No response from EDD after filing SDI claim in November - Normal or concerning?
I filed for disability in November and haven't heard anything back. I'm getting worried because I haven't received any acknowledgment letter or email. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if I should be concerned or if this is normal. I've checked my mail and email, including spam folders, but there's nothing. Should I reach out to them directly? Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😡

•Sounds sketchy. How do we know this isn't a scam?

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait after using this service?

•While Claimyr is a legitimate service and offers a solution for getting through to EDD, it's important to weigh the cost and consider if it's necessary for your situation. Checking reviews and doing further research can provide more insight.

Maybe we should all chip in and buy EDD some new computers. Might speed things up a bit 😂

•Bold of you to assume they even use computers. Probably still using abacuses and carrier pigeons 🐦

Pro tip: If you can, try visiting an EDD office in person. I know it's a pain, but I finally got answers that way. Bring a book tho, the wait is brutal.

•Bringing a book is good advice. It can be a long wait, but sometimes in-person visits yield better results.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. Filed in October and it's radio silence. Starting to feel like I'm shouting into the void here 😫

•Hang in there! We're all in this together and hopefully the wait will be over soon.

Plot twist: What if the EDD is actually run by a bunch of sloths? 🦥 Would explain a lot tbh

Have you tried logging into your EDD account online? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out any notifications.

Serious question: does anyone know if there's been any news about improving the system? Or are we just stuck in this limbo forever?

•I heard they were 'upgrading' the system, but that was months ago. Probably means we're doomed 💀

•There have been talks about system improvements, but implementing large-scale changes takes time. Hopefully, we'll see some positive updates soon.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might be in for a long wait. I filed in August and didn't hear anything for 3 months. Then they asked for more info. Now I'm back to waiting again. The whole system is a mess.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all the information you submitted. Make sure there are no errors or missing details. 2. Call the EDD directly. Yes, it's a pain, but it's worth it. Try early in the morning or late afternoon for shorter wait times. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, send a message through your online account. Be polite but firm, asking for an update on your claim status. 4. Consider contacting your local state representative. They sometimes can help expedite claims. 5. Keep a record of all your attempts to contact them. This can be useful if there are any disputes later. 6. Check your mail daily, including junk mail. Sometimes their letters get misrouted. 7. Be patient but persistent. The system is overloaded, but you have a right to know the status of your claim. Remember, you're not alone in this. Many of us have been through the same frustrating process. Hang in there!

It is quite normal to experience delays in the processing of disability claims with the EDD, especially given the current backlog. However, taking proactive steps can be beneficial. As suggested, checking your EDD account online is a great first move to see if there are any updates or requests for more information that may not have been communicated via mail or email. Contacting EDD directly is another step, as sometimes speaking to a representative can provide more insight into your claim status. While using services like Claimyr can help expedite getting in touch with EDD, it's wise to research and ensure you're comfortable with any associated costs. Persistence is key, and documenting all your communications with EDD will be invaluable should any issues arise. Remember, many people are in the same situation, and eventually, most claims do get resolved. Stay patient and persistent, and consider reaching out to local resources that may offer support during this waiting period.
