Got an EDD alert about my SDI claim - what does it mean?
Hey everyone, I just got an alert from EDD about my SDI claim. Has anyone else dealt with this recently? I'm not sure what it means or if I need to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, those EDD alerts can be so confusing! What exactly did the alert say? Sometimes they're just general updates, but other times you might need to take action. Can you give us more details?

ā¢Thanks for responding! The alert didn't give much info, just said there was an update to my claim. I'm worried it might affect my payments š°

ā¢Classic EDD move. They love to keep us guessing š Have you tried logging into your account to see if there's any new messages or tasks?

ā¢Good idea, I'll check that now. Fingers crossed it's nothing major!

I've been dealing with SDI for months now, and let me tell you, it's a wild ride. Here's what I've learned: ⢠Always check your online account for detailed updates ⢠Don't rely on just the alerts, sometimes they're delayed ⢠If you can't find info online, call them ASAP ⢠Keep a record of all communication ⢠Be prepared for long hold times when calling Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

ā¢This is solid advice right here šÆ Especially about keeping records. You never know when you'll need to prove something later.

ā¢Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely follow these steps. How long did it take you to get everything sorted out?

ā¢Honestly, it took about 2 months to get everything straightened out. But don't let that discourage you! Every case is different.

ā¢I haven't tried calling yet. I've heard the wait times are insane. Is it really worth it?

ā¢Or just use your speakerphone and do chores while you wait. Multitasking ftw! š

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

Hey OP, don't panic! I got a similar alert last month. Turned out it was just them confirming my doctor's certification. Didn't affect my payments at all. Might be the same for you!

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along. Worked wonders for me!

ā¢This is legit advice. My cousin did this and got her issue resolved in like 2 days. Politicians actually being useful for once lol

I just went through something similar last week! Don't stress too much - most of the time these alerts are just routine updates. Here's what I'd recommend doing right away: 1. Log into your EDD portal and check for any new messages or documents 2. Look for any action items or deadlines you might have missed 3. Screenshot everything for your records In my case, the alert was just notifying me that they received my medical certification renewal. No action needed on my part, and my payments continued normally. But definitely check your account first before calling - you might find all the info you need there and save yourself the headache of waiting on hold for hours! Keep us posted on what you find out! š¤

ā¢This is really helpful advice! I'm new to dealing with SDI and honestly didn't even know there was an EDD portal I could check. The screenshots tip is smart too - I've learned the hard way with other government stuff that you need to document everything. Thanks for breaking it down step by step, it makes this whole process seem way less intimidating!

ā¢@Charlotte White Welcome to the SDI world! Yeah, the EDD portal is definitely your best friend through this process. One thing I wish someone had told me early on is to also download/save any documents you find there - sometimes they disappear from the system after a while. And if you do end up needing to call, try early morning like (8 AM sharp or) later in the evening for shorter wait times. Good luck!
