SDI benefits suddenly reduced yesterday - no EDD notice. Help!
Hey everyone, I just noticed my SDI benefits got reduced yesterday and I have no idea why. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if it's because of changes in my income or work status. I haven't received any letters or notices from EDD about changes to my benefits recently. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact to find out what's going on?

Ugh, sorry to hear that. The EDD is such a mess rn. I had a similar issue last month. Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending out notices.

•Good advice! EDD's website can be a goldmine of info... when it's not crashing lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? That's steep. Is it really worth it?

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get answers.

•I've used it too. Lifesaver when you're desperate to talk to a human at EDD.

There could be a few reasons for the reduction: 1. Change in your base period wages 2. Partial return to work 3. Reaching maximum benefit amount 4. Changes in state funding or policies Best bet is to contact EDD directly. Be prepared for a long wait time tho. Good luck!

•Good point! I'll double check my mail pile. Wouldn't be the first time I almost threw out something important 😅

This happened to me last year. Turns out I hit the maximum benefit amount for my claim period. Might be worth checking if that's the case for you too.

•Oh man, I didn't even know there was a maximum. How do I find out what mine is?

•It should be in your initial award letter. If you can't find it, def call EDD. They can tell you the max and how much you've used.

The whole system is rigged, I tell ya. They probably reduced it just cuz they can. 🤬

•Chill out, man. It's probably just a clerical error or something. No need to go all conspiracy theory.

Hey OP, quick question - did you recently hit your 1-year mark on SDI? Sometimes benefits can change after the first year.

•Actually, yeah! It's been almost exactly a year. I had no idea that could affect things. Thanks for pointing that out!

Pro tip: Keep a detailed log of all your communications with EDD. Dates, times, who you spoke to, what was said. It'll save you a ton of headaches if you need to dispute anything later.

have you tried turning it off and on again? 🤣 jk jk... but seriously, sometimes logging out and back into your EDD account can refresh things and show updated info.

•Lol, if only it were that easy! But I'll give it a shot, can't hurt 😂
