Finally got through to PFL about CA EDD disability claim after weeks of trying
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some good news! I finally got through to PFL about my disability claim. After weeks of trying, I received multiple texts saying I was up next for a call. I was able to confirm that they received my claim and I'll be getting the PFL form soon. It's such a relief to finally make progress! Has anyone else had success recently?

This gives me hope! I've been stuck in limbo with my claim for what feels like forever. Did they give you any timeline for when you'll actually receive benefits?

They didn't give me an exact timeline, but they said once I submit the PFL form, it should be processed within 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed! π€

2-3 weeks?! That's actually not bad. I've heard horror stories of people waiting months!

I was told the same thing, but it took about a month after submitting my form. Just a heads up!

lol remember when they said they were "upgrading" the system to make it more efficient? What a joke π€‘

Right?! Their idea of an upgrade is making it impossible to get through. Mission accomplished, I guess π

Maybe they meant more efficient at frustrating us? In that case, A+ job! πππ

It's frustrating, but keep in mind that tech upgrades often have initial hiccups before they stabilize. Hopefully, they'll improve soon.

This whole system is so broken. Why do we have to jump through hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to? It's ridiculous!

Preach! π The government needs to get its act together. We're not asking for handouts, just what we've paid into!

I wonder if there are any initiatives we can support that push for change at the policy level. Anyone know?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, what? $20 just to make a phone call? That sounds like a scam tbh

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate and decided to try it. Saved me hours of frustration.

I get the skepticism, but when you've been trying to get through for weeks, $20 starts to seem worth it. It's not for everyone, but it worked for me π€·ββοΈ

I tried Claimyr too, and it worked well, but I was a bit wary about the cost. If you're in a pinch, though, it's an option.

Can someone explain the difference between disability and PFL? I'm confused about which one I should be applying for.

Yara Abboud
Sure! Disability is for when YOU cant work due to illness/injury. PFL is for caring for a family member or bonding with a new child. Hope that helps!

Keep in mind that eligibility requirements might differ slightly depending on your state, so it's always good to double-check.

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always "under maintenance" when you try to log in? It's like they're doing it on purpose to make it harder for us π

Pro tip: try logging in super early in the morning or late at night. Less traffic = better chance of getting through!

Hey OP, congrats on getting through! Quick question - did you have to provide any additional documentation when you spoke with them? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before I (hopefully) get a call back.

Thank you! I didn't need to provide anything additional on that call, but they did say to make sure my PFL form is complete and accurate. Good luck with your call!

It's always a good idea to have all your documents ready, just in case. Sometimes they ask for verification on the spot.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a twisted game of phone tag with the EDD? It's like, "You've reached the EDD office. We're currently experiencing high call volumes. Please try again later. *click*" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. π«

Here's a tip: try calling right at the time the office opens. You might have a better chance of getting through.

Congrats on getting through! I've been trying for days with no luck. How long did you have to wait before you got those texts?

Thanks! I've been trying for about 2 weeks straight. The texts came pretty much out of nowhere tbh. I think I just got lucky with the timing.

I've been dealing with this nightmare for 3 months now. Here's what I've learned: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 3. Reach out to your local representative. Sometimes they can help push things along. 4. Join Facebook groups for support and tips. There are some great communities out there. 5. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but keep at it. Remember, you're not alone in this. We're all in the same boat, trying to navigate these choppy waters. Stay strong, friends! πͺ

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just give up and find other ways to make ends meet. This system is clearly designed to wear us down.

Itβs fantastic to hear you made progress with your PFL claim, OP. Navigating these systems is indeed challenging for many. For those considering Claimyr, it's worth noting that while the service can expedite getting through to a representative, it comes at a price. Whether or not it's worth it can depend on your personal situation and urgency. Some have found success with it, while others prefer to navigate the system traditionally, albeit slowly. I recommend weighing the pros and cons based on your circumstances. Additionally, contacting local representatives or advocacy groups might provide some assistance without additional costs. Staying informed and persistent is key. Best of luck to everyone still in the process!
