I went through this exact same issue earlier this year! The form submission glitch affected a lot of people. Here's what finally worked for me: I sent a secure message through my online account explaining the technical issue and included screenshots of any error messages. It took about 2 weeks, but they were able to manually process my case and backdate all the missed payments. Don't lose hope - you'll get your money! Make sure to keep trying multiple approaches at once.
did u try checking ur mail? sometimes they send letters instead of online messages. my friend had same name issue and they just mailed everything
I've been checking the mail every day hoping for something from EDD, but nothing so far. I'll keep an eye out though!
Hey there! I went through almost the exact same situation last year when my son was born. The confusion between SDI and PFL is SO common - even the EDD reps get it mixed up sometimes. Here's what worked for me: 1. You definitely need the DE 2501FP form for bonding leave, not the regular SDI form 2. The good news is you can still get retroactive payments once it's approved 3. For the name mismatch issue, when you call, ask them to update your profile with the EXACT spelling from your ID while you're on the phone One tip that saved me: when calling EDD, try calling the PFL-specific number (1-877-238-4373) instead of the general SDI line. I found they were more knowledgeable about bonding claims and could help me file directly over the phone. Also, if you do use a service like Claimyr to get through faster, make sure to specifically ask for PFL bonding assistance so they don't transfer you to the wrong department. You haven't lost any benefits - you have up to a year from birth to file, and once approved you'll get paid for all eligible time. Hang in there, new parent life is stressful enough without dealing with EDD bureaucracy!
Just checking back - were you able to resolve the error? Sometimes if you log in during their maintenance hours (usually late night), the system shows errors that aren't actually there. If you're still having problems, definitely call. And when you do transition from SDI to PFL, make sure to file your PFL claim before your SDI claim ends to avoid any gap in benefits.
The error finally went away this morning! My claim now shows as processed and it says my first payment should be issued within 7 days. Such a relief! And thanks for the tip about filing PFL before SDI ends - I definitely wouldn't have known to do that.
That's wonderful news that your claim is now processed! I'm so glad the error resolved itself. As a new mom myself, I totally understand how stressful it is when you're counting on that income. For future reference, the EDD website does have scheduled maintenance windows (usually between 10 PM and 6 AM) when the system can be unreliable, so if you ever see weird errors again, try logging in during regular business hours first. Congratulations on your baby and I hope your recovery is going well! 💙
Ugh, the EDD is such a joke. I've been dealing with them for months and still haven't gotten anywhere. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it. 🙄
Sorry, just frustrated. You're right tho, we're all in this mess together. 💪
I totally understand your frustration! I went through something similar last year. One thing that helped me was calling right when they open at 8am - I had better luck getting through early in the morning. Also, try the UI Online portal during off-peak hours (like late evening). Sometimes the system is less overwhelmed then. Don't give up - it's a terrible system but persistence usually pays off eventually. Hang in there! 💪

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been sick for weeks and can't get any info on my claim. It's so frustrating! Sending you good vibes and hoping we both get some answers soon 🤞

Hey Mei! I totally get your frustration - been through this myself recently. A few things that worked for me: 1) Try calling the alternate number (1-800-480-3287) instead of the main line - sometimes less busy. 2) Call right at 8am when they open, don't wait even a minute. 3) If you get through to someone, ask them to add a note to your file about your call so there's a record. 4) You can also try the "Contact EDD" form on their website - it takes a few days but they do respond. Hope you feel better soon and get your claim sorted out! 💪
