EDD suddenly stopped my disability benefits on 10/31 - What should I do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. My disability benefits suddenly stopped on October 31st and I have no idea why. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure what to do next or how to get them started again. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. First thing you need to do is gather all your documents - pay stubs, medical records, and any letters from EDD. Then call them ASAP and ask why your benefits stopped. Be ready to explain your situation clearly. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! Do you know if there's a specific number I should call? The EDD website is so confusing 😫

No prob! Try 1-800-300-5616 for regular UI claims. But be prepared to wait foreverrr 🙄 Sometimes it's faster to use their online portal if you can figure it out.

I second this advice! Also, make sure to write down everything they tell you during the call. Those EDD folks can be real forgetful sometimes 🤦♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

20 bucks to skip the hold? Sign me up! 💸 EDD's hold music was driving me insane lol

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your mail/email for any notices from EDD 2. Log into your EDD account and look for any messages or status updates 3. Gather all relevant documents (medical records, pay stubs, etc.) 4. Call EDD and ask specifically: - Why were your benefits stopped? - What info do they need to restart them? - Are there any pending issues? 5. If they need more docs, send them ASAP 6. Follow up regularly until it's resolved Stay persistent! The system is a mess but don't give up. You got this! 💪

Oh man, I hope that's all it is. How long did it take you to get your benefits back?

Have you checked if you hit your maximum benefit amount? Sometimes benefits stop if you've reached the limit for your claim period.

I didn't even know there was a maximum! How do I find out what mine is?

It should be listed on your initial award letter. If you can't find it, def ask when you call EDD. They can tell you exactly where you stand.

Cmon man, that's not fair. They're probably swamped with cases. The system sucks but don't blame the workers

Quick tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try contacting your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help push things along with EDD. Worked for me!
