SDI payments suddenly stopped - no notice from EDD. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability insurance payments. They just stopped coming out of nowhere. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, that sucks. When did your payments stop? Did you get any notices from EDD about it?

•No notices at all. They just stopped coming about 2 weeks ago. I'm getting worried 😰

•Classic EDD move. They probably 'lost' your paperwork or something. 🙄

•Yikes, 2 weeks is a long time. You should def call them ASAP

I've been there, buddy. Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your EDD account online. Sometimes there's info there that doesn't come in the mail. 2. Call EDD immediately. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours. 3. Make sure all your paperwork is up to date. They might have needed something and 'forgot' to tell you. 4. If you have a doctor's note, make sure it's current and EDD has a copy. 5. Keep a log of all your calls and attempts to contact them. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but you gotta keep pushing.

•This is solid advice. I'd add: if you can, try to get your doctor's office to contact EDD directly. Sometimes that speeds things up.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready.

have you checked your mail carefully? sometimes they send important notices that look like junk mail 👀

•Good point, I'll double check my mail pile. Wouldn't put it past them to make important stuff look like spam 🙄

This happened to me last year. Turns out my claim had expired and I needed to file a new one. Might be worth checking if that's your issue too.

•Oh man, I didn't even think of that. How do I check if my claim expired?

•Log into your EDD account online. It should show your claim status and end date. If it's expired, you'll need to file a new claim.
