SDI payment less than expected - How to appeal or fix?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my state disability insurance payment. I didn't get the full amount I was expecting and I'm trying to figure out why. I already sent in my continued benefits form, but something's still not right. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to appeal or get this sorted out?

Ugh, dealing with SDI can be such a pain! I've been there before. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get a straight answer.

•I've been trying to call for days but can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's annoying but it works

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour.

•$20 tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Saved me hours of frustration and missed work trying to call myself.

Here's what you need to do to appeal your SDI decision: 1. Gather all your documentation (medical records, pay stubs, etc.) 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining why you think the decision was incorrect 3. Include any new information that wasn't in your original claim 4. Send everything certified mail so you have proof they received it 5. Follow up within 2 weeks if you don't hear anything Be persistent! The system is overloaded right now, so you might have to push a bit to get results. Good luck!

have you checked your award letter? sometimes they deduct taxes or other stuff and that can make the payment lower than you expect

The whole SDI system is broken af rn. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. This pandemic really showed how unprepared they are 🤡

Hey OP, when did you submit your continued benefits form? Sometimes there's a delay between when you submit and when it's processed. Might be worth checking your online account to see if there are any updates or messages.

•I submitted it about a week ago. I'll double-check my online account, thanks for the suggestion!

Plot twist: what if we all just showed up at the SDI office? They can't ignore us all! 😂

Has anyone tried contacting their local representative about SDI issues? I've heard sometimes they can help push things along.

•I did this last year! It actually helped a lot. My case got resolved within a week after months of nothing.

•How do you even find out who your local rep is? asking for a friend...

•Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Good luck to your 'friend' 😉

I'm going through something similar right now! One thing that helped me was requesting a detailed breakdown of my payment calculation. You can do this through your online account or by calling (if you can get through). They should be able to show you exactly how they calculated your benefit amount and what deductions were taken. Sometimes there are things like overpayments from previous claims or adjustments that aren't immediately obvious. Also, make sure to keep copies of EVERYTHING - every form you submit, every correspondence, dates of phone calls, etc. This documentation becomes super important if you need to escalate or appeal later.

•This is really helpful advice! I never thought about requesting a detailed breakdown - that's such a smart idea. I've been keeping some documentation but not everything, so I'll definitely start being more thorough about that. Thanks for sharing your experience!

•@William Rivera this is exactly what I needed to hear! I had no idea you could request a detailed breakdown - that sounds like it could solve my mystery right there. I ve'been so focused on trying to get someone on the phone that I didn t'even think to look into the actual calculation. And you re'absolutely right about the documentation - I ve'been pretty sloppy about keeping track of everything. Starting a folder today! Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed advice 🙏
