EDD payment delay since May, missing certification form, no response to email - help needed
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment benefits and I'm hoping someone here can help. I haven't gotten paid since the end of May, even though I submitted my certification for continued benefits almost two weeks ago. On top of that, I haven't received my new certification form, which is supposed to be due tomorrow. And to make matters worse, I haven't heard back from the email I sent asking for an update on my claim. Anyone else dealing with similar problems or have any advice?

Friendly reminder to everyone: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, certifications, everything. It might come in handy if you need to dispute something later.

This is such solid advice. I've been keeping a spreadsheet for months and it's been my saving grace in several disputes.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always 'down for maintenance' whenever you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point 🙄

It's infuriating! You'd think with how much they rely on their online system, they'd keep it running smoothly.

Hey OP, quick question - when you say you haven't received payment since 5/29, do you mean that's the last week you were paid for, or the last time you actually received money in your account? It could make a difference in figuring out what's going on.

Good question! That's the last time I actually received money in my account. I've certified since then but no payments have come through.

It might be worth checking if there's been any issue with the bank on their end. Sometimes there's a mismatch in the account details.

Guys, I think I figured out the secret to getting paid... you gotta sacrifice a goat under a full moon while chanting 'EDD please pay me' 3 times. Works every time 60% of the time 🐐🌕💰

Instructions unclear. Sacrificed my bank account instead. Still no payment. 😂

Y'all are killing me 🤣 But for real, has anyone actually gotten through to a human lately? I'm starting to think the whole EDD is just one big AI chatbot

Have you checked your spam folder for the certification form? Sometimes they end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system.

Great advice! It's amazing how often important emails get filtered into spam.

Okay, let me break this down for you based on my experience and what I've learned from dealing with EDD for months: 1. Missing payments: This is unfortunately common right now. EDD is backlogged and sometimes payments get delayed for no apparent reason. Keep certifying even if you haven't been paid. 2. Missing certification form: Log into your UI Online account and see if you can certify there. Sometimes the paper forms get lost in the mail, but you can still certify online. 3. 'Qualified' vs 'Payment' status: 'Qualified' usually means they've determined you're eligible, but haven't processed the payment yet. It should change to 'Payment' soon, usually within 2-3 business days. 4. Expect payment: If it was processed on 6/21, you should see it in your account within 2-3 business days, so by 6/24 or 6/25 at the latest. 5. No response to email: EDD is swamped with emails. It can take weeks to get a response. Calling is usually faster if you can get through. Tips: - Keep certifying on time, even if you haven't been paid - Check your UI Online account daily for updates - If you can't get through on the phone, try the contact your assembly member method. They can sometimes expedite things. Hang in there! The system is a mess right now, but persistence usually pays off.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely check my UI Online account and keep certifying. Do you know how I can find my assembly member's contact info?

You're welcome! To find your assembly member, go to http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/ and enter your address. It'll give you their contact info. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat. My payment status says 'qualified' instead of 'payment' and I have no idea what that means. Anyone know the difference?

I think 'qualified' means they've approved you for payment, but haven't actually sent the money yet. It's like they're teasing us 🙄

I've had that before. It usually changes to 'payment' within a few days. Hang in there!

It's a waiting game, unfortunately. Just keep checking your status and hopefully, it'll update soon.

PSA: If you're having trouble with your claim, try reaching out to your local assemblyperson or state senator. They have liaisons who can escalate your case with EDD. Worked for me when I was stuck for months!

This is a great tip! Sometimes getting political representatives involved can add the pressure needed to get things moving.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was totally worth it.

It's definitely a decision between saving time or spending money. If you're stuck, it might be worth considering.

Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. I've been dialing for hours and keep getting disconnected or told to call back later. It's so frustrating!

Calling is a joke. I spent 3 days straight trying to get through. It's like winning the lottery if you actually talk to someone.

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold last week. Good luck!

If you're really struggling to get through, maybe try looking for alternative times or numbers to call. Some states have different lines for different issues.

I'm so tired of this. Been dealing with EDD bs for over a year now. Feels like a full-time job just trying to get the money we're owed. Anyone else just completely burnt out?

Hey, has anyone tried filing a complaint with the state ombudsman? I've heard it can sometimes help get things moving when you're stuck in EDD limbo.

That's a good suggestion. Ombudsmen can often help cut through some of the red tape and get things moving.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a dystopian nightmare? Can't get paid, can't get answers, can't even talk to a human being. What are we supposed to do??? 😭
