EDD Benefits Stopped Since April - No Payments for 5 Months. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my unemployment benefits. I haven't received any payments since April 26th, and it's now September. I last certified back in April, but nothing since then. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do? I'm getting really worried about my finances.

Sounds like you might have an issue with your certification or your claim needs to be updated. Have you tried calling EDD? Here's what I'd suggest: • Gather all your employment docs and previous certification info • When you get through to an agent, ask if there's a problem with your certification • See if they need any additional info from you • Follow up on whatever they tell you ASAP Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Ugh, the EDD phone lines are the WORST. I swear they're designed to make us give up. 🤬

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yep, this happened to me too. You might be able to certify for past weeks, but you'll def need to talk to someone at EDD to sort it out.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? Has anyone else tried this?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

$20 to actually talk to a human? That's highway robbery! 😤 The system is so broken.

I get it, but when you're missing out on hundreds or thousands in benefits, $20 to fix it seems worth it to me. 🤷‍♂️

have u checked ur mail? sometimes they send important notices that way and if u miss em, ur benefits can get messed up

This happened to me last year. Turns out my claim had expired and I needed to file a new one. Definitely call and talk to someone - it's a pain but its the only way to get it sorted.

Oh wow, I didn't even think about that. How long did it take you to get it fixed?

It took about 2 weeks after I finally got through to someone. Just keep at it!

The EDD system is such a joke. They make it impossible to get help and then act surprised when people fall through the cracks. 🤡 Good luck OP, you're gonna need it.

For real tho. It's like they WANT us to give up. 💀

Hey, don't panic! This is fixable. I work for a non-profit that helps people with EDD issues. Here's what you need to do: 1. Try to backdate your certifications online 2. If that doesn't work, you MUST speak to a tier 2 specialist 3. Explain your situation calmly and ask about reinstatement 4. Be prepared to provide proof of eligibility for the missed weeks 5. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor Stay persistent! You got this! 💪
