EDD lost my mailed ID verification docs, rep seemed clueless. What now?
I sent in my address verification and proof of ID to EDD through the mail. My USPS tracking says it was delivered on Feb 13th at 9am. It's been a while and I still haven't heard anything back from EDD. I called and spoke to someone yesterday, but they didn't seem to understand my situation or the information I sent. The person sounded new and inexperienced. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

Ugh, classic EDD. They're always losing paperwork or taking forever to process it. I've been in the same boat, my friend. It took them almost 2 months to acknowledge they received my documents. My advice? Keep calling and bugging them until someone competent picks up. It's frustrating, but persistence is key with these guys.

•2 months?! That's insane. I've been waiting for 3 weeks and thought that was bad. Guess I better buckle up for a long wait 😩

•Yeah, it's ridiculous. The system is so broken. Just keep at it and don't let them forget about you!

•Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that gets through faster than mail.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically it automates the whole process of navigating the phone tree and waiting on hold. When a real person picks up, it connects you. Saved me from going insane hitting redial all day lol

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the EDD again and ask for a 'document receipt confirmation'. They should be able to see if your docs were scanned into the system. 2. If they can't confirm receipt, send your docs again via certified mail. Keep the tracking number. 3. While waiting, file an appeal. This puts your claim in a different queue and often gets faster attention. 4. Contact your local state representative's office. They can often expedite EDD issues. 5. Keep a detailed log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. 6. If all else fails, file a complaint with the EDD through their website. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let up until you get this resolved. Good luck!

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try these steps. Have you gone through this process yourself?

•Unfortunately, yes. It took me about 3 months to get everything sorted out. But following these steps definitely helped speed things up towards the end. Don't give up!

Have you tried checking your UI Online account? Sometimes they update info there before they contact you directly. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system.

•I've been checking it daily, but no updates so far. Good tip about the contact info though, I'll double-check that. Thanks!

Ive been dealing with edd for over a year now. its a nightmare. my advice? document EVERYTHING. every call, every letter, every online message. youll need it if you end up having to appeal or file a complaint. stay strong, we're all in this sinking ship together 🚢

Pro tip: If you can, try to get to an EDD office in person. I know it's a pain, but face-to-face interactions can sometimes get things moving faster. Just be prepared for a long wait.

•This! I second this advice. I got more done in one office visit than I did in months of calling.

Anyone else notice that EDD seems to work better for some people than others? Like, my neighbor got her stuff sorted in a week, and here I am, 3 months later, still waiting. Makes me wonder if there's some secret code we're missing 🤔

•I've wondered this too! Maybe it depends on which office handles your claim? Or just pure luck?
