EDD address verification document processing time - still pending after 2 weeks

I uploaded my address verification documents to UI Online exactly 14 days ago after moving to a new apartment, and my payments are still stuck on pending. The system shows my documents were received, but there's no indication they've been reviewed. I can't afford to wait much longer as rent is due next week and I'm already behind on utilities. Has anyone dealt with this recently? What's the typical timeline for EDD to process address verification in 2025? Should I be calling them at this point or just keep waiting?

A MONTH?! That's insane. Did your payments get released all at once when they finally processed it?

It really varies depending on their current workload. Since January 2025, EDD has been implementing a new verification system that's been causing some delays. Address verification is typically taking 10-21 business days (so about 2-4 weeks total). \n\nHowever, you don't have to just wait. If you can get through to an EDD representative, they can often expedite the review of your documents, especially if you explain your financial hardship. I'd recommend trying to call first thing in the morning (8:01 AM) as that's when their queue is shortest.

Thank you! I'll try calling tomorrow morning. I had no idea it could take this long - my previous certifications were always processed within days.

omg i went through THE EXACT SAME THING last month!!! i waited 3 weeks and NOTHING happened!! my documents just sat there in the system and my payments were stuck on pending. i was getting so desperate i almost took out a payday loan which would have been terrible for my credit. EDD's system is completely broken when it comes to processing anything these days!!!

What did you end up doing to fix it? Did you just wait it out or were you able to get through to someone?

i finally got through to someone after trying to call for 4 days straight (so frustrating!!). the rep pushed my documents through right away and my payment was released the next day. she said something about them being 'backlogged' but i think thats just their excuse for being inefficient!!

After dealing with this exact issue twice in the past six months (had to submit address verification after a temporary move and then again when I found permanent housing), I can tell you the ONLY way to get this resolved quickly is by speaking directly with an EDD representative. Good luck getting through though - I spent THREE DAYS hitting redial hundreds of times.\n\nI finally discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have this automated system that keeps calling EDD for you and gets you in the call queue without all the redial nonsense. Totally worth checking out their video demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nOnce I actually spoke with someone, they pushed my documents through immediately and my pending payments were released the same day.

Totally legit. I was skeptical too, but after three days of constant redialing I was willing to try anything. It actually worked exactly like they said it would. The rep I spoke with told me they're seeing lots of address verification delays right now.

Here's what's actually happening with address verification right now (I worked as an EDD contractor until recently):\n\nIn February 2025, EDD implemented a new fraud prevention system that flags any change of address for extra verification. This is causing major backlogs because there aren't enough staff assigned to document review. The official processing time is 10 business days, but the reality is closer to 15-20 business days right now.\n\nYour best options are:\n\n1. Call the main EDD line and specifically ask for the \

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! This is incredibly helpful. I'll definitely call and ask for the document review department tomorrow morning. Is there a specific number I should call for that, or just use the main EDD line?

Just use the main EDD customer service line (1-800-300-5616). When you get through, immediately tell them you need to speak with document review regarding address verification delays. If the first person tries to just tell you to wait, politely but firmly ask to be transferred to the document review team.

Perfect, thank you! I'll try exactly that.

Has anyone ever gotten through to EDD by using the Spanish line and then asking for English? I heard that works but haven't tried it myself.

when i had this happen the stupid system lost my docs entirely! i had to reupload everything & then wait another 2 weeks. make sure when u call that u ask them to confirm they can actually SEE ur docs in the system. they might tell u they received them when actually they cant even access them 🙄

Just to follow up on what others have said - after you speak with EDD, make sure to check your UI Online inbox regularly. They often send a notification when your documents are approved, and sometimes they'll request additional verification if anything looks unclear. \n\nAlso, if you're able to get through to a representative, ask them to annotate in your file that you're experiencing financial hardship. This can help prioritize your case if it gets passed to another department for final approval.

UPDATE: I finally got through to EDD this morning! Called right at 8:01am and only waited about 25 minutes. The representative was actually really helpful - she could see my documents in the system and said they looked good, but they were sitting in a queue waiting for review. She was able to approve them on the spot and said my payments should switch from pending to paid within 24-48 hours. Fingers crossed! Thanks everyone for your advice!

That's great news! Glad you were able to get through and get it resolved. The 8:01am trick usually works well. Let us know when your payments actually come through!
