EDD address verification submitted - how long for a response?
Hi everyone, I just submitted my address verification documents to EDD after moving from Oakland to Sacramento last month. They sent me a notice saying I needed to verify my new address before they could continue processing my weekly certifications. I uploaded a copy of my lease and a utility bill through UI Online on Monday (three days ago), but my portal still shows my claim is pending with no updates. Has anyone gone through this address verification process recently? How long does it typically take for EDD to review these documents and update your claim status? I'm getting worried because rent is due next week and I really need those payments to come through.

When I had to verify my address last year, it took about 7-10 business days for them to review and update my account. Make sure you check your UI inbox regularly for any messages requesting additional documentation. Sometimes they need more than what you initially provide.

•Thanks for the info! Did they send you any confirmation that they received your documents? I haven't gotten anything yet and I'm worried they might not have gone through properly.

The timeline for address verification can vary depending on their current workload, but typically it takes 5-14 business days. The important thing is that you've already uploaded the required documents. Your claim showing as pending is normal during this process. A few tips that might help: 1. Make sure both documents clearly show your name and current address 2. Check that the documents are dated within the last 90 days 3. If you're concerned about the delay, you can try calling EDD directly to confirm they received your documents Don't panic if it takes a bit longer - they will backpay for any weeks that were held during the verification process.

•Thanks for the detailed response! The documents I sent definitely meet those requirements. I've been trying to call EDD but can't get through - always get the message about too many callers. Is there another way to check if they received my documents?

I had to do this when I moved from San Jose to Fresno and omg it was such a NIGHTMARE!! took them almost a month to update my address and I almost got evicted waiting for my payments. EDD is seriously the worst when it comes to anything address related!!!! good luck!!

•A MONTH?? That's terrifying. I can't wait that long. Did you do anything special to speed up the process?

I hate to say this, but you might want to try calling them. I had the same issue in February when I moved apartments, and my claim was stuck pending for weeks. I finally got through to a rep who told me they needed an additional document because my utility bill was in my roommate's name. The system never notified me of this! Once I submitted the correct docs, it was resolved in 2 days.

•Calling EDD is impossible these days though. I tried for 2 weeks straight and couldn't get through once.

Just wanted to add - make sure you've also updated your mailing address in the Contact Information section of your UI Online account. Sometimes people upload the verification documents but forget to actually change the address in the system. The verification and address update are technically two separate steps.

•Oh! I didn't realize those were separate steps. I did upload the documents but maybe I didn't update the address properly in my contact info. I'll check that right now - thank you!

•Yes, you do need to update your address with EDD even if it's in the same building, as your apartment number is part of your official address. However, the verification process might be simpler since you're staying at the same street address. I'd recommend updating it as soon as you move to avoid any payment delays.

UPDATE: I finally got through to EDD this morning using Claimyr (thanks for the recommendation). The rep told me my documents were received but hadn't been reviewed yet. She was able to verify my address while I was on the phone and release my pending payments! They should be on my Money Network card in 1-2 business days. I'm so relieved!

•Great news! Glad you got it resolved. This is why it's always worth trying to speak directly with a rep - they can often fix these issues immediately instead of waiting for the system to process everything.
