EDD doctor appointment a month away - need urgent alternative!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with EDD. They asked me to make an appointment with one of their doctors, which I did, but the earliest available slot is over a month away. I can't afford to wait that long. Has anyone had any luck getting an earlier appointment or finding an alternative solution? This is pretty urgent for me.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is so backed up its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them to explain your situation? Sometimes if you can get through to a rep, they might be able to expedite things.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, the second they open. Set an alarm and everything. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•How long did you have to wait once they connected you?

•It took about 45 minutes total, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they had someone on the line.

Have you considered looking for a different doctor who might have earlier availability? I know EDD usually wants you to use their doctors, but given the urgency, they might make an exception. Worth asking about at least.

This is why the whole system needs an overhaul. It's not equipped to handle real people with real urgent needs. We're all just numbers to them. 😤

•It's been like this for years. Don't hold your breath for any changes anytime soon.

Here's what I'd recommend based on my experience with EDD: 1. Keep calling. It's frustrating, but persistence pays off. 2. Document everything. Every call, every letter, every interaction. 3. Reach out to your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 4. Check if there's an online portal where you can message them directly. 5. If you have a union rep or legal aid available, use them. 6. Explain the urgency of your situation clearly and concisely whenever you communicate with them. 7. Ask about alternative doctors or if they can expedite your case due to hardship. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep, hadn't thought of that.
