EDD claim status check - constant dead air when calling. Any tips to get through?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I filed recently and I'm trying to check the status, but I keep getting dead air when I call. Anyone else experiencing this? Any tips on how to get through to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD phone system is a nightmare. I've been trying to get through for weeks. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone 🙄

•For real tho. Its like they purposely make it difficult. I swear the system is designed to frustrate us into giving up.

•Yep, same boat here. I've tried calling at different times of the day, but no luck. It's so frustrating!

•I know right? It's ridiculous. We're already stressed about being unemployed, and then we have to deal with this bs. 😤

I actually found a way to get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•idk man, paying to get through seems sketchy. Shouldn't this be a free service?

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but it saved me hours of frustration.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Basically, yeah. They have some automated system that navigates the phone menu and waits on hold. When a real person answers, it calls your phone to connect you. Took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to do anything.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck getting through first thing in the morning.

Pro tip: use the comma trick when dialing. Add commas between the numbers to create pauses that automatically navigate the menu for you. Like this: 18003005616,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,1,2,,,,,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1 It doesn't guarantee you'll get through, but it saves time on redialing.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if you get frustrated. 2. Try calling at off-peak hours. Early morning or late afternoon can sometimes work. 3. Use the online portal as much as possible for updates. 4. If you do get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-ups. 5. Keep detailed records of all your calls and interactions. 6. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office for help. 7. Join Facebook groups or forums for real-time updates and tips. 8. Be prepared with all your information before you call. 9. Stay calm and polite with representatives, even if you're frustrated. 10. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like others have mentioned. Hope this helps someone! We're all in this together. 💪

•This is gold! Thanks for sharing your experience. It's crazy that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get basic help.

•The assembly member tip is underrated. My rep's office was actually super helpful when I was stuck!

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? It's like they're hoping we'll just stop trying to claim what we're owed. 🤬

•100% agree. It's a feature, not a bug. They make it so difficult that people just give up.

•Conspiracy theory time: what if they're understaffed on purpose to save money? 🤔

Has anyone had luck with the online chat feature? I've been trying that instead of calling, but it seems just as useless.

•Lol, online chat. Might as well be shouting into the void. Never got a response.

Yo, not to be that guy, but have yall tried faxing? I know it sounds ancient, but I sent a fax with my question and got a call back within 48 hours. Just putting it out there 📠

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, if it works, it works. Might give it a shot.
