EDD claim start date wrong? Nov file showing Jan start - missing payments?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment claim. I filed back in November, but when I check the website, it's showing January as the start date. I'm really confused about what dates they're actually paying me for. Am I only getting paid from January 3rd to January 22nd, or are they going all the way back to November when I first filed? Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I'm worried I might be missing out on payments I should be getting.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The unemployment system is such a mess rn. I had a similar issue where my claim date was off by like 2 months. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get it sorted out.

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, set an alarm and everything. It's annoying af but it worked for me.

ā¢Calling is useless, I swear they have like 2 people working the phones. I've had better luck with the online chat feature, but you gotta be quick!

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was showing the wrong start date. I had to file an appeal to get it fixed. It took a while, but I eventually got backpay for the missing months. Don't give up!

ā¢Oh wow, that's good to know. How long did the appeal process take for you?

ā¢It took about 6 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Just make sure you have all your documentation ready!

Have you checked your inbox on the unemployment website? Sometimes they send messages there about claim issues that don't show up in emails. It's easy to miss.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Yeah, I was skeptical too at first. But I was desperate and it actually worked. Saved me hours of hold time.

ā¢I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Beats losing out on weeks of benefits š¤·āāļø

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: ⢠First, double-check all your paperwork. Make sure the date you put on your initial claim matches when you actually became unemployed. ⢠Next, gather any proof you have of your last day of work. Pay stubs, emails, anything. ⢠If you haven't already, file for backpay. There should be an option for this on your online portal. ⢠Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online chat. You might need it later. ⢠If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local state representative. They often have connections and can help push things through. ⢠As a last resort, consider filing an appeal. It's a pain, but sometimes it's the only way to get things fixed. Remember, the system is overloaded and mistakes happen. Don't give up! You're entitled to those benefits from when you first became eligible. Good luck!

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes the website shows more detailed info than what you get in the mail.

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not equipped to handle the volume of claims, especially during times of crisis. We should be writing to our representatives about this!

ā¢Preach! š The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point.

ā¢Yeah but good luck getting politicians to care about fixing unemployment when they've never had to rely on it š
