EDD Unemployment: Partial Payment Issue & Waiting Period Confusion - Help Needed
I'm having trouble with my unemployment payments. I certified for a period but only got paid for part of it. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I'm confused about the waiting period. If it starts on a certain date, when does the first payment actually begin? Any help would be appreciated!

Here's what I've learned about EDD payments after dealing with them for months: 1. The waiting period is always the first week of your claim, and it's unpaid. 2. Payments start from the first day after your waiting period ends. 3. Sometimes there are glitches in the system that cause partial payments. 4. If you notice missing payments, document everything and call EDD ASAP. 5. Keep certifying every two weeks, even if you have payment issues. 6. Check your EDD account online regularly for any updates or messages. Remember, persistence is key when dealing with EDD. Don't give up!

Anyone else notice that EDD's website always seems to crash right when you need it most? 🙄

•Pro tip: try certifying late at night or early morning. Less traffic on the site.

•I've been doing this and it actually works. Fewer crashes in the wee hours.

The waiting period is usually one week, and it's unpaid. So if your waiting period started on a Monday, your first payable day would be the following Monday. Hope this helps!

•Thanks! That makes sense. So I guess I shouldn't expect payment for that first week?

Mia Rodriguez
•Exactly! The first week is like a "deductible" for unemployment. It sucks, but that's how it works.

•Honestly, they should make this clearer. So many of us get confused by the waiting period.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of relying on unemployment 🤷♂️

Claimyr definitely sounds like a useful tool for those struggling to get through to EDD, especially when time is of the essence. However, it's important to consider it as a last resort given the cost involved. While the $20 fee might seem steep, many users have reported success in reaching an agent quickly. It's also wise to weigh this against your current financial situation and urgency of the issues you're facing. Additionally, keeping detailed records of your EDD issues and attempting to navigate their website or contacting your state representative can be effective solutions. Remember, persistence is crucial, and having multiple strategies can help you resolve issues more efficiently.

Ugh, the EDD system is such a mess. I've had similar issues with missing payments. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare to get through, but sometimes it's the only way to get answers.

•Yeah, I've been trying to call but no luck so far. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes of waiting last week.

•I second this! I started calling as soon as they opened and it really does cut down the wait time.

Has anyone tried the new EDD mobile app? Is it any better than the website?

•Wait, there's an app?? How did I not know about this?

•Tried it and it's a bit slow, but at least it's one more option to try.

Friendly reminder to everyone: don't forget to report all your income when certifying! Even if it's just a few bucks from a side gig. Better safe than sorry with EDD.

•Great reminder! EDD is pretty strict and can delay payments over this.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get it, but when you're desperate for answers, it's a lifesaver. Better than wasting days trying to get through.

•As long as it works, I guess it's worth the money if you're struggling to get paid.

•Good idea! Politicians are more likely to act when they hear directly from constituents.
