EDD Unemployment Claim: 'Qualification' Status Meaning and New Payment Issue

So I'm having this issue with my unemployment claim. I checked my account and under claim activity it says 'qualification' instead of payment. I'm not sure what this means. I also noticed there's a new payment issued, but it still says 'qualification' under claim activity. Has anyone else experienced this? What does it mean when it says 'qualification'? I'm worried about my benefits and I'm not sure if everything is okay with my claim. Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve EDD claim qualification status issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtIj-0xdK4A

edd be playing games with our lives fr 😤

0 coins

I feel you. It's like we're all just pawns in some giant EDD game.

0 coins

Ive been on unemployment for 6 months now and let me tell you, its always something with these people. One week its 'qualification', next week its 'pending', then 'disqualification'. Its like playing EDD bingo 🎱

0 coins

EDD bingo 💀 I'm dead. Someone needs to make this a real game

0 coins

Fr tho. Don't forget the 'interview scheduled' square that never actually happens 🙄

0 coins

Don't forget the 'technical issue' slot, it's a classic!

0 coins

Maybe try tweeting at EDD? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

0 coins

It's sad but true that social media gets faster responses sometimes.

0 coins

PSA: Always screenshot everything in your EDD account. You never know when you might need proof of something later.

0 coins

Seriously, this is so important. You never know when it'll come in handy.

0 coins

I'm in the same boat, OP. This whole system is so confusing. Sending good vibes your way! 🙏

0 coins

Thanks for the vibes, we all need it dealing with this system!

0 coins

have you checked your spam folder? sometimes edd emails end up there and they might have sent you something important

0 coins

Good point! I had a friend who missed important emails because they were marked as spam.

0 coins

guys i think i figured it out. 'qualification' is actually a secret code. if you say it three times while spinning in a circle, an edd rep appears and fixes all your problems. trust me, i'm an expert 🧙‍♂️

0 coins

Instructions unclear. Spun in circle, got dizzy, still broke. 0/10 would not recommend

0 coins

This is the quality content I come to reddit for 👌

0 coins

If only it were that easy! 😂

0 coins

bruh the edd is a 🤡 show. good luck getting any real answers 💀

0 coins

Right? It's like every interaction ends up being a circus act.

0 coins

Plot twist: 'qualification' is actually a new reality TV show where unemployed people compete for benefits. Coming soon to a government agency near you! 📺

0 coins

We'd probably all make it to the finals at this rate!

0 coins

Pro tip: if you call EDD at exactly 8:01 am on a Tuesday while standing on one foot and humming the national anthem, you have a 0.001% higher chance of getting through. You're welcome.

0 coins

Guess I'll have to try this next week!

0 coins

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes talking to a rep can clear things up real quick.

0 coins

I've tried, but it's impossible to get through. Been calling for days 😭

0 coins

Lmao good luck with that. Easier to win the lottery than get an EDD rep on the phone 🎰

0 coins

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.

0 coins

I didn't even know that was an option. How do I find my assembly member?

0 coins

Just google '[your city] assembly member'. They usually have a form on their website for EDD help. It's a game changer!

0 coins

Assembly members can be surprisingly helpful. Definitely worth a shot.

0 coins

I had the same thing happen to me! It turned out that they were just verifying some info on my claim. It took about a week, but then it changed to 'payment' and I got my money. Don't stress too much!

0 coins

A week? That's not too bad. Did you have to do anything or just wait?

0 coins

Nah, I just waited it out. But if ur worried, u can always try calling them. Good luck!

0 coins

That's reassuring. I might just sit tight for now and hope it resolves soon. Thanks for sharing!

0 coins

Seriously tho, has anyone actually met someone who works for EDD? Beginning to think they're all AI 🤖

0 coins

For all we know, they could be! 😂

Here's what I know about the 'qualification' status: • It means your claim is under review • EDD is checking if you meet eligibility requirements • It doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem • The duration can vary, but usually resolves within 1-2 weeks If you're concerned, you can try calling EDD to ask: 1. What exactly does 'qualification' mean for your claim? 2. Is there any additional info they need from you? 3. When can you expect a decision? Remember, seeing a new payment issued is a good sign! It likely means they've processed your payment, but are just doing a final review. Hang in there!

0 coins

This is really helpful info! 👍 Do you work for EDD or something?

0 coins

Nah, just been through the wringer with them lol. You learn the ropes after a while 😅

0 coins

This gives me some hope! Thanks for breaking it down so clearly.

0 coins

Ugh, the EDD system is such a mess. I've been dealing with similar issues for months now. 'Qualification' usually means they're reviewing your eligibility. It's frustrating, but hang in there!

0 coins

Same here, it's like they don't want to give us any clarity. Hopefully, it gets sorted for you soon!

0 coins

It seems like many people are experiencing this issue, and while it's understandably frustrating, 'qualification' status is part of the EDD's review process. It signifies that your claim is under review for eligibility, and it doesn't imply that there's a problem with your claim. It's great that you noticed a new payment issued; this often means that your payment has been processed, and they are just doing a final review before releasing the funds. It's recommended to regularly check your EDD inbox or email (including the spam folder) for any requests for additional information from EDD, as missing such requests could prolong the process. If you haven't received any communication, patience is essential, as the status often updates within a week or two. If the delay is lengthy or causing hardship, consider reaching out to your local assembly member as they can sometimes expedite the process. Additionally, Claimyr is a service that might help you reach EDD faster if phone lines are consistently busy, though it requires a fee. Keep in mind that while Claimyr has been helpful to some, it's a personal decision based on urgency and financial situation. Good luck!

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of relying on unemployment 🤷‍♂️

0 coins

ok boomer

0 coins

Wow, what a revolutionary idea! Why didn't we think of that? 🙄

0 coins

Some of us are trying, but the job market is tough rn. Don't judge if you don't know someone's situation.

0 coins

It's not always as simple as it sounds. Many people are in tough situations despite their best efforts.

0 coins

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website always seems to crash right when you need it most? It's like they know 👀

0 coins

Ugh, so true! It's like they time it perfectly to inconvenience us.

0 coins

This happened to me last month. Turns out they needed additional proof of income. Check your EDD inbox, they might have sent you a message requesting documents.

0 coins

I had to send in a bunch of documents too. It was a hassle, but it got things moving.

0 coins

yall remember when edd actually worked? me neither 🤣

0 coins

It feels like it's been ages since it ran smoothly.

Hey Ethan! I went through the exact same thing a few weeks ago. The 'qualification' status basically means they're doing a routine review of your claim to make sure everything checks out. Since you mentioned there's a new payment issued, that's actually a really good sign - it usually means they've already approved your payment and are just doing their final verification process. Mine took about 5-7 business days to switch from 'qualification' to 'paid' status. Try not to worry too much, this seems to be pretty standard lately. Just keep an eye on your account and it should update soon! 🤞

I'm dealing with something similar right now! My claim has been showing 'qualification' for about 3 days now and I was starting to panic. Reading through all these comments is actually really reassuring - sounds like it's just part of their review process. The fact that you have a new payment issued is definitely encouraging. I'm going to try checking my spam folder like someone suggested, and maybe look into contacting my assembly member if it drags on too long. Thanks for posting this, it's nice to know we're not alone in this confusing process! 🙏

Totally feel you on this! I'm new to dealing with EDD but seeing everyone's experiences here is both terrifying and comforting at the same time 😅 It's crazy how we're all just trying to figure out what these different statuses mean. I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My claim has been stuck on 'qualification' for about a week and I was getting super anxious about it. After reading all these comments, it sounds like this is actually pretty normal and just means they're doing their routine review process. The fact that you have a new payment issued is definitely a good sign - from what others are saying, it usually means the payment is already approved and they're just doing final verification. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here like checking my spam folder and maybe reaching out to my assembly member if it takes too long. Thanks for posting this @Ethan Brown - it's really helpful to know other people are dealing with the same confusing system! Fingers crossed we both get our payments sorted out soon 🤞
