EDD Unemployment Benefits: System Shows Wrong Earnings, Only One Payment Received - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my unemployment benefits. My earnings for the first quarter of 2023 were $22,773, but the system is only showing $7,500. On top of that, I only received one payment and then nothing else. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I'm freaking out and don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve EDD earnings reporting discrepancy, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esoY2Wmhi9Y

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's a joke! 🤡

•Yes, the system definitely needs an upgrade. It’s like they’re using technology from the stone age.

Anyone else miss the days when we could just walk into an office and talk to a real person? 👴👵

In situations like this, persistence and documentation are key. Make sure you have all your earnings documentation in order and be consistent with your follow-ups. As others have suggested, exploring options like Claimyr can be worthwhile, especially if traditional methods have not worked. However, it's important to weigh the costs versus the potential time savings when considering Claimyr or similar services. In addition, contacting a local representative might give you an extra edge, as they can sometimes expedite the process. Remember to double-check for any fraud alerts, as they can stall payments. While the EDD system can be frustrating and outdated, staying organized and persistent will ultimately help resolve the situation. Good luck!

Plot twist: EDD is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels 🐹🎡 That's why everything takes so long

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

•Calling early has definitely worked for me a few times. Less competition on the lines.

This happened to my cousin too! It turned out to be a glitch in their system. Keep calling and don't give up!

•Glitches are so common with EDD. It's like they need to reboot their system every other day.

Ugh, classic EDD mess-up. I swear they can't get anything right. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho 🙄

•Agreed, getting ahold of them is almost impossible. It’s like they don’t want to fix their mistakes.

have you checked your online account? sometimes the system updates before they send out payments. might be worth a look

•Yeah, I've been checking it like crazy. No updates there either 😞

have you tried contacting your local representative? sometimes they can help speed things up with EDD

•That's a great idea! Representatives can sometimes cut through the red tape faster.

I had a similar issue last year. Here's what I did to resolve it: • Gather all your pay stubs and proof of earnings for Q1 2023 • Prepare any relevant documents like tax returns or employer statements • Call EDD (I know, easier said than done) • Explain the discrepancy in reported earnings • Mention you only received one payment • Ask them to review and correct both issues • Take detailed notes during the call • Follow up with any additional documentation they request It took a few weeks, but they eventually fixed it for me. Stay persistent!

Have you checked if there's any fraud alert on your account? Sometimes that can freeze payments.

•Fraud alerts can definitely mess things up. Worth looking into for sure.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. I wasted days trying to get through before using this.

•I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. While it's effective in getting through, the cost can be a deterrent for some.

I'm dealing with something similar right now! My earnings are showing way lower than what I actually made, and it's so frustrating. Have you tried documenting everything and maybe reaching out through multiple channels? I've been keeping screenshots of all my account info and pay stubs just in case. The whole system seems broken honestly, but don't lose hope - sounds like others have gotten through this mess eventually. Keep us updated on what works for you!

•Documentation is definitely the way to go! I've been through similar EDD nightmares and having all your paperwork organized really helps when you finally get someone on the phone. Screenshots are smart too - the system glitches so much that having proof of what you're seeing can make all the difference. It's frustrating that we have to work this hard just to get what we're owed, but persistence really does pay off with EDD eventually.

@Abigail Spencer I'm so sorry you're going through this! The earnings discrepancy is actually more common than you'd think - I had a similar issue where EDD was only showing about 1/3 of my actual Q1 earnings. Here's what finally worked for me: I gathered ALL my pay stubs, W-2s, and bank deposit records, then called first thing in the morning (like 8:01 AM sharp). When I finally got through, I had the rep walk through each pay period with me while I read off the exact amounts. Turns out there was a glitch in how they were processing multi-employer quarters. The whole process took about 3 weeks to fully resolve, but I did get all my back payments. Don't give up - your money is there, it's just trapped in their messy system! Keep calling and stay organized with your documentation. 💪
