EDD SDI: Promised callback never came - What to do after weeks of waiting for back payment?
Has anyone else been told they were next in line for a call but never received one? I've been waiting for weeks to get my back payment issue resolved, and today I finally got a message saying I was up next for a call from EDD. But guess what? No call came through. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. Anyone have any advice on what to do next? Should I just keep trying to get through on my own?

Same thing happened to me last month! It's like they're playing some sick game with us. I ended up having to call over 100 times before I finally got through. Keep trying, it's frustrating but eventually you'll get someone.

100 times?! That's insane. I don't have that kind of time or patience. There's gotta be a better way.

I know, right? It's ridiculous. But unfortunately, that seems to be the only way to get through sometimes. Unless you wanna try camping outside their office 😂

I eventually got through after dozens of attempts too. It seems it's a test of endurance more than anything else.

Ugh, classic EDD move. They're probably swamped with calls and can't keep up. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that's the best time to get through.

I've tried calling at various times, including right when they open, and it still took dozens of tries. Maybe they're overwhelmed at all hours.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the EDD gods? Might be more effective than waiting for their call 😂

LOL at this point I'm willing to try anything 😅

Instructions unclear, sacrificed my last paycheck instead. Still no call from EDD. 🐐💸

Exactly! This whole process just feels surreal and unnecessarily complex.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20 just to make a phone call? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying on my own, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite EDD issues. It's worth a shot!

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google '[your city] assembly member' and it should come up. Most have a form on their website for constituent services. Good luck!

I've heard of people having success this way. It adds some pressure to the EDD to act.

The EDD system is completely broken. I've been dealing with this nonsense for MONTHS. It's like they don't even care about us. We need to organize and demand better service!

Preach! 🙌 Maybe we should start a petition or something?

Petitions can make a difference. At least it draws attention to the issue.

I've heard rumors that EDD is updating their system soon. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

My cousin's friend's dog's previous owner works for EDD and says it's true. Take that with a grain of salt tho 😅

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for the past year: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Document everything. Write down who you talk to, when, and what they say. 3. Be prepared when you call. Have all your info ready. 4. Try different times of day. Sometimes early morning or late afternoon can be less busy. 5. Use the online portal as much as possible for simple issues. 6. If all else fails, contact your local representatives or consider using a paid service. Remember, you're not alone in this struggle. The system is overwhelmed, but don't give up on getting what you're owed.

Great advice! I'd add: be nice to the reps when you do get through. They're overwhelmed too and being kind can go a long way.

I recently used Claimyr and was pleasantly surprised by how effective it was. While it's not ideal to pay $20 to get through to a state agency, when you're desperate, it can be a lifesaver. However, I wish there was a more affordable or free alternative for everyone facing these issues.

It's good to know there are options out there, but it would be nice if the system worked well enough on its own.

I agree, Claimyr seems like a good option if you're at your wits' end. Hopefully, the state addresses these issues soon so we don't have to rely on third-party services.

Pro tip: if you're gonna be on hold for hours, put your phone on speaker and do something productive. I learned a new language waiting for EDD to pick up! Duolingo FTW 🦉

Has anyone tried the EDD mobile app? I heard they were rolling out new features to make it easier to manage claims.

Yeah, I've used it. It's okay for basic stuff, but anything complicated still requires calling in.

The app is decent for tracking your claim status, but it won't replace the need to call for complex issues.

This is why we need to vote for better leadership. The whole system needs an overhaul. Until then, we're all just stuck in this bureaucratic nightmare.
