EDD payment delay: Weeks without unemployment check, can't reach anyone. Help!
I've been waiting for my unemployment payment for weeks now and still haven't received anything. I've tried calling EDD multiple times but can't get through to anyone. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person there?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open at 8 AM 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get through to the menu 4. Choose the option for filing a new claim, even if you're not 5. This usually connects you to a person faster It took me about 30 minutes of trying, but I finally got through. Good luck!

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the main line, try calling the employer line instead. Sometimes they'll help claimants too if you're nice about it.

I finally got through last week and they told me there was a "flag" on my account that needed to be cleared. Apparently, this is common and can cause payment delays. Might be worth asking about if you manage to speak with someone.
