No EDD unemployment payments since May - How to reach a real person at CA EDD?

Hey everyone, I'm in a tough spot. I haven't gotten any unemployment payments since May. It's been months and I'm really struggling. I've tried calling the EDD office but can't get through to anyone. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person there? I'm getting desperate and could really use some help.

I found a way to solve EDD unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHwdgGMYG_Y

I heard they're updating the system soon. Might be why everythings so messed up rn. Hang in there!

It's possible that improvements are underway, but they should communicate such updates better and provide alternative support in the meantime.

This is ridiculous. The government takes our money for years and then can't even do their job when we need help. The whole system is broken af 🤬

Preach! 🙌 It's like they want us to suffer

Instructions unclear. Sacrificed my bank account instead. Still no benefits. 😭

Serious question: has anyone considered a class action lawsuit? This level of incompetence is causing real harm to people.

I've been thinking the same thing. We should organize!

Good luck suing the government. They'll probably lose the paperwork for that too 🙄

While it might be a long shot, a class action could potentially bring attention to systemic issues and force improvements.

Has anyone tried going to the EDD office in person? I'm thinking of camping out there until they help me.

I tried that last month. They just gave me a number to call... the same one that never answers 🤦‍♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

Totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I get it, but when you're desperate and need your benefits, it's a small price to pay. Time is money, ya know?

It's great that Claimyr has worked for you, but I think it's important to be cautious. Not everyone may have the same experience, and spending money upfront for a service like this might not be feasible for everyone.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. The EDD system is a total nightmare. Have you tried calling right when they open? That sometimes worked for me.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. It's like they don't even pick up the phones anymore 😫

Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep hitting redial. Sometimes you can get through before the system overloads.

Have you tried contacting your local assemblymember? They can sometimes help push things through with EDD. Worth a shot!

Connor O'Neill

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my assemblymember is?

Just google '[your city] assemblymember' and it should come up. Good luck!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Send a written request via certified mail asking for an update on your claim. 3. File an appeal if you've been denied or your payments have stopped without explanation. 4. Contact your state representative AND senator. They can often help. 5. If all else fails, consider reaching out to local media. Sometimes public pressure can get things moving. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is designed to wear you down, but stay strong. You've got this! 💪

Also, consider reaching out to legal aid services for more assistance. They might offer additional strategies tailored to your specific situation.

Claimyr seems to be a useful tool for some, as it helps people bypass the crowded phone lines and connects them to a live agent. However, it's worth noting that the service comes with a cost, which can be an additional burden for those who are already financially strapped. While it offers a solution for some, it may not be feasible for everyone. It's important to weigh the benefits against the cost and consider other free alternatives first, such as contacting local representatives or seeking help from legal aid services. Moreover, the EDD system's shortcomings highlight a broader issue that requires advocacy and systemic change to ensure people receive the support they need without having to resort to paid services.

Hey OP, have you checked if there's any outstanding paperwork they need from you? Sometimes they don't notify you properly and your claim gets stuck.

0 coins

-

Connor O'Neill

That's a good point. I'll double-check all my documents. Thanks for the suggestion!

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my identity verification didn't go through. Had to resubmit everything. Maybe check if that's your issue?

How did you find out about the identity verification issue?

I finally got through to someone on the phone and they told me. It's like pulling teeth to get any info from them 🙄

Anyone else notice how the EDD website looks like it was designed in 1995? No wonder they can't handle our claims 🙄

For real tho. My grandma's flip phone is more high-tech than their system 📟

Plot twist: EDD is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels. When the hamsters get tired, the whole system crashes 🐹💤
