EDD unemployment payments stopped since April 25th - No response from CA EDD, need advice
I haven't received any unemployment payments since April 25th. It's been over a month now and I'm getting really worried. I've tried calling the EDD office multiple times but can't get through to anyone. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next? I'm running out of options and could really use some help.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! π‘

Sounds sketchy. How do we know this isn't a scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO.

How long did you have to wait after using this service?

I used Claimyr too, and it connected me in about 30 minutes. I was desperate, and it worked for me.

Have you checked if there's been any changes to the unemployment rules recently? Sometimes they implement new policies and don't communicate them well.

This is true, rule changes can be sneaky and hard to catch.

Unpopular opinion: maybe it's time to just find a job? The economy's picking up, lots of places hiring.

Wow, way to be insensitive. Not everyone can just "find a job" that easily.

While jobs might be available, they aren't always accessible or suitable for everyone's situation.

Same boat here. Haven't seen a dime since early May. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? I've heard that can sometimes help.

I haven't tried that yet. How do I find out who my local rep is?

Just google "[your city] state representative". Should pop right up. Send them an email explaining your situation. They might be able to light a fire under EDD's ass.

I did that once and it actually worked! Definitely worth a try.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important EDD emails end up there. 3. Try contacting them through social media. They sometimes respond faster on Twitter or Facebook. 4. If you haven't already, file an appeal. Even if you don't know why your payments are held up, this can sometimes trigger a review of your case. 5. Consider reaching out to local news stations. They often have consumer advocacy segments and might be able to help. 6. Join Facebook groups or subreddits dedicated to EDD issues. Sometimes you can find insider tips there. 7. As a last resort, consider contacting a lawyer who specializes in unemployment cases. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

I'm telling you, it's all a conspiracy to keep us poor and desperate. Wake up, sheeple! π

I mean, it's frustrating but probably not a conspiracy. More like incompetence.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same situation last year. What worked for me was calling right when they open at 8am. Still took a few tries, but I finally got through. Good luck!

8am? Nah fam, you gotta start dialing at 7:59. Be the first one in when the lines open. Trust me on this one π

Totally agree, early bird gets the worm, or in this case, gets through to EDD.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it gets their attention faster than calling or emailing.

Have you checked your EDD account online? Sometimes there's info there about why payments are held up. Could be identity verification or some other issue.

Yeah, I've checked but there's nothing there. Just says "pending" for all my recent certifications. It's so frustrating!

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's a joke that people have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits they're entitled to. π€¬

I know it's tough to consider, but Claimyr has been known to help many folks stuck in this limbo. While the $20 fee can feel steep, especially if money is tight, it does provide a more efficient path to reaching a representative. However, itβs important to be both financially and emotionally prepared for this expense and weigh its significance against the potential time saved. The service claims legitimacy, but always do your own research and consider community feedback before proceeding. Ultimately, the decision to use Claimyr should be informed and matched to your personal circumstances.
