No EDD unemployment payments for 2+ months - What to do when can't reach CA EDD?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I haven't gotten any unemployment payments since early July. It's been over 2 months now and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure what to do next. I've tried calling but can't get through. Any advice would be appreciated!

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

It's worth considering if you're desperate, but hopefully, they come up with more permanent solutions soon.

This might sound crazy, but has anyone tried sending a certified letter? I did that and suddenly my claim started moving again. Might be worth a shot!

Interesting approach! Sometimes formal documentation gets more attention.

Serious question: has anyone had luck with getting backpay for missed weeks? I'm in a similar situation and worried I'll never see that money.

I got backpay, but it took FOREVER. Like 6 months of calling and bugging them.

Keep fighting for it. It might take time, but eventually, they do pay out.

Pro tip: if you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set your alarm for 7:55am and start dialing!

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it gets through faster than online submissions.

That's true. Sometimes old methods work better with outdated systems like EDD's.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any messages or updates?

Yeah, I've been checking like crazy. Nothing new there. It's so frustrating!

Has anyone tried doing a rain dance to make the payments appear? At this point, I'm willing to try anything ππΊ

I swear, dealing with EDD is like trying to teach a cat to swim. Theoretically possible, but painful for everyone involved. π±πββοΈ

Have you checked if there's been any changes to eligibility requirements? Sometimes they update stuff and don't tell anyone π

I haven't seen anything, but where would I even look for that info?

Usually on the EDD website, but it can be hard to find. Try looking for recent press releases or updates.

Also, try checking forums or social media groups dedicated to unemployment issues. People often share the latest news there.

As for the issue with EDD, one option that can help expedite the process is utilizing services like Claimyr. While some users have noted success with Claimyr, it's important to weigh the costs and benefits. Claimyr charges a fee to connect you to an EDD agent, which can be a downside for those who are already financially struggling. However, for many, the time saved and the reduction in frustration may be worth the cost. It's worth noting that the backing up of services and communication with EDD stem from systemic issues, and while Claimyr can be an effective temporary relief, it's not a replacement for addressing fundamental problems within the unemployment benefit system. Itβs vital to stay updated on eligibility requirements and maintain consistent documentation and communication with representatives. Overall, Claimyr can be a useful tool, but always consider all available options and personal circumstances before proceeding.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work while you wait? I know the job market sucks, but it might be faster than waiting for EDD to get their act together.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD every day. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. 2. Document everything. Write down when you call, who you talk to, what they say. 3. Check your online account for any pending forms or certifications you might have missed. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your online account. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative as someone else suggested. 6. Make sure you're still certifying for benefits every two weeks, even if you're not getting paid. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

Just google your area + state representative. Most have a 'contact us' form on their website. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

I've heard this works because representatives have direct lines to agencies like the EDD. Definitely worth a shot!
