No EDD unemployment payments for 2+ months - What to do when can't reach CA EDD?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I haven't gotten any unemployment payments since early July. It's been over 2 months now and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure what to do next. I've tried calling but can't get through. Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8naTap3tjAE

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

It's worth considering if you're desperate, but hopefully, they come up with more permanent solutions soon.

This might sound crazy, but has anyone tried sending a certified letter? I did that and suddenly my claim started moving again. Might be worth a shot!

Interesting approach! Sometimes formal documentation gets more attention.

Serious question: has anyone had luck with getting backpay for missed weeks? I'm in a similar situation and worried I'll never see that money.

Hugo Kass

I got backpay, but it took FOREVER. Like 6 months of calling and bugging them.

Still waiting on mine. Been almost a year now. 😞

This is what I'm worried about. I really need that money. 😰

Keep fighting for it. It might take time, but eventually, they do pay out.

Pro tip: if you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set your alarm for 7:55am and start dialing!

This has worked for me before. Timing is everything.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it gets through faster than online submissions.

0 coins

-

Quinn Herbert

That's true. Sometimes old methods work better with outdated systems like EDD's.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any messages or updates?

0 coins

-

Alberto Souchard

Yeah, I've been checking like crazy. Nothing new there. It's so frustrating!

Sometimes the website doesn't update right away. Keep trying to call, thats your best bet

Also, make sure you check your spam or junk email folder in case any messages were redirected there.

Has anyone tried doing a rain dance to make the payments appear? At this point, I'm willing to try anything πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

We might need to resort to unconventional methods if this continues!

I swear, dealing with EDD is like trying to teach a cat to swim. Theoretically possible, but painful for everyone involved. πŸ±πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Perfect analogy. It's a struggle for sure.

Have you checked if there's been any changes to eligibility requirements? Sometimes they update stuff and don't tell anyone πŸ™„

0 coins

-

Alberto Souchard

I haven't seen anything, but where would I even look for that info?

Usually on the EDD website, but it can be hard to find. Try looking for recent press releases or updates.

This happened to me! They changed some rule and I had no idea. Took forever to sort out. 😫

Also, try checking forums or social media groups dedicated to unemployment issues. People often share the latest news there.

As for the issue with EDD, one option that can help expedite the process is utilizing services like Claimyr. While some users have noted success with Claimyr, it's important to weigh the costs and benefits. Claimyr charges a fee to connect you to an EDD agent, which can be a downside for those who are already financially struggling. However, for many, the time saved and the reduction in frustration may be worth the cost. It's worth noting that the backing up of services and communication with EDD stem from systemic issues, and while Claimyr can be an effective temporary relief, it's not a replacement for addressing fundamental problems within the unemployment benefit system. It’s vital to stay updated on eligibility requirements and maintain consistent documentation and communication with representatives. Overall, Claimyr can be a useful tool, but always consider all available options and personal circumstances before proceeding.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate this system? πŸŽ“πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Yes! It's overwhelming and unnecessarily complicated.

I heard a rumor that they're updating the computer system soon. Maybe that'll help? 🀞

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work while you wait? I know the job market sucks, but it might be faster than waiting for EDD to get their act together.

I've been applying to jobs non-stop. No luck so far. πŸ˜•

Two months?! That's insane. The system is so broken. I've heard they're really backed up, but this is ridiculous.

It really shows how unprepared they were for the surge in unemployment claims.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD every day. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. 2. Document everything. Write down when you call, who you talk to, what they say. 3. Check your online account for any pending forms or certifications you might have missed. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your online account. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative as someone else suggested. 6. Make sure you're still certifying for benefits every two weeks, even if you're not getting paid. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

This is great advice. I'd add: join Facebook groups for your state's unemployment. Sometimes they have insider tips.

Another tip is to call during off-peak hours, like right before closing or immediately after they open.

lol welcome to the club 🀑 EDD is a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for my appeal hearing. This whole system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

I completely agree. It's like they haven't updated their processes in decades.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

0 coins

-

Alberto Souchard

I didn't even think of that. How would I go about doing that?

0 coins

Just google your area + state representative. Most have a 'contact us' form on their website. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

I've heard this works because representatives have direct lines to agencies like the EDD. Definitely worth a shot!
