NYSDOL unemployment benefits stopped for 2 weeks - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I haven't gotten my unemployment benefits for the last two weeks and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? I've been getting my payments regularly up until now, but suddenly they've just stopped. I'm not sure what to do or who to contact. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Hey OP, if you're looking for a solution to get through to unemployment, Claimyr can be a good option. It's a service that helps to connect you with a live agent quickly by navigating the automated menus and holding the line for you. While it costs $20, many people have found it worth the expense to avoid lengthy wait times. However, it's important to consider that while Claimyr provides a faster connection to support, it does highlight issues with accessibility and the need for more robust customer service options within government systems.

Ugh, I've been in the same boat for THREE MONTHS now. It's ridiculous. I've called, emailed, sent carrier pigeons... nothing works. Starting to think they're just hoping we'll give up and go away. Stay strong, OP!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Wait, what? You have to PAY to talk to unemployment now? That's messed up.

Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

I get the skepticism, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through. It's not ideal to pay, but it saved me so much time and stress. Worth it IMO.

While it might be helpful, it's unfortunate that such services even need to exist. It points to a larger issue with accessibility in the system.

Has anyone else noticed that the system always seems to "glitch" right when rent is due? 🤔 I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, but... 👀

Anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with unemployment? We could call it "On Hold Anonymous" 📞😂

First rule of On Hold Anonymous: You do not talk about On Hold Anonymous. Second rule: You DO NOT talk about On Hold Anonymous. Third rule: If someone says "stop," goes limp, or taps out, the hold is over.

Plot twist: the unemployment office is actually run by squirrels and they're hoarding all our nuts 🐿️

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes there's a notice or something you need to do that they don't tell you about. I had to verify my identity again for some reason and my payments stopped until I did.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me last month. It's so frustrating when you're counting on that money and it just... disappears. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? Fair warning though, it's a nightmare to get through.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. I've been on hold for hours and then the call just drops. It's driving me crazy!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, the second they open. Set an alarm and everything. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

I've also found that calling midweek sometimes helps. Mondays and Fridays tend to be really busy.

Have you certified for those weeks? I know it sounds obvious, but I forgot once and freaked out when I didn't get paid. Just throwing it out there!

Thanks for the suggestion! I double-checked and yep, I definitely certified. That's why I'm so confused about whats going on.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the dates of your last payments and when they stopped. 2. Check your online account for any messages or alerts. 3. Make sure all your information is up to date. 4. Try calling first thing in the morning, right when they open. 5. If you can't get through, consider using one of those paid services to get you through to an agent. 6. When you do talk to someone, get their name and a reference number for the call. 7. Ask them specifically why your payments stopped and what you need to do to restart them. 8. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 9. Follow up with an email summarizing your call and the next steps. 10. If all else fails, contact your local representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but you'll get through it.
