EDD: 6 weeks, no payment. System shows amounts but $0 deposited. Help!
I filed for unemployment 6 weeks ago and still haven't received my first payment. The system shows my daily and weekly amounts, but no money has been deposited. I've tried calling EDD multiple times but can't get through. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or get in touch with a real person?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's been 8 weeks for me and still nothing. The EDD system is a complete mess rn 😤

8 weeks?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

No, I haven't tried that yet. Thx for the tip! I'll give it a shot and see if it helps.

Local assemblymember worked for me! Took about 2 weeks after I contacted them, but finally got my $$$. Def worth a try

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. Worth every penny tbh

Just tried it and it actually worked! Got through to an agent in about 45 mins. Thx for sharing!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check all your docs are uploaded correctly 2. Make sure your identity is verified (use ID.me if required) 3. Call right when they open at 8am 4. If you can't get through, try the online chat feature 5. Be persistent and call every day if needed It took me about 3 weeks of trying, but I finally got it sorted. Don't give up!

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling right when they open. Do you know if weekends are less busy?

They're closed on weekends unfortunately. Monday mornings tend to be crazy busy, so Tuesday or Wednesday might be your best bet.

This is ridiculous. The system is clearly broken. We need to organize and demand better service from EDD. Who's with me? 💪

I'm down. This has gone on way too long. What do you propose we do?

Let's start a petition and flood our representatives' offices with calls and emails. Strength in numbers!

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the main line, try calling the employer line instead. Sometimes they'll help claimants too if you're polite.

Isn't that kinda unethical tho? 🤔

Desperate times call for desperate measures. EDD should hire more staff if they don't want this happening 🤷♂️
