EDD Certification Approval Time - How Long Does It Usually Take?

Hey everyone, I just sent in my info to certify for my next benefit payment and I'm wondering how long it usually takes to get approved? Anyone have experience with this? I'm kinda nervous about it and could use some advice.

In my experience, it usually takes about 2-3 business days for them to process and approve the certification. But sometimes it can be faster or slower depending on how busy they are. Just make sure you filled out everything correctly!

2-3 days? lucky you! It took them over a week to approve mine last time 😩

Same here, it's been pretty quick for me too. OP, did you double check all your answers before submitting?

Yeah, I triple-checked everything before hitting submit. Guess I'll just have to be patient and wait it out. Thanks for the info!

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst part of this whole process. Hang in there, OP! šŸ’Ŗ

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone about this! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 45 minutes total, but I was able to do other stuff while waiting for the callback. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

Here's a detailed breakdown of what to expect: • After submitting your certification, the system usually takes 24-48 hours to process it. • If there are no issues, your payment should be approved within 3-5 business days. • You'll receive a notification (email or text) when the payment is processed. • The funds typically appear in your account 1-2 days after approval. Keep in mind that these timeframes can vary depending on the current workload and any potential flags on your account. If you don't see any movement after a week, it might be worth trying to contact them directly. Pro tip: Always certify as soon as you're eligible. The earlier in the week you submit, the faster it usually gets processed!

Wish I'd known about certifying early before. No wonder mine always took forever šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get our benefits? The system is so broken 😤

Quick question - did you have any pending issues or open claims before certifying? That can sometimes slow things down.

Nope, everything was clear as far as I know. Just a regular certification for my ongoing claim.

Pro tip: Set up text alerts if you haven't already. You'll get notified as soon as there's any update on your claim. Saves a lot of anxious refreshing!

Just wanted to add my two cents here - I've been on disability benefits for about 8 months now and the certification approval time has been pretty consistent for me. Usually takes 3-4 business days, but like others mentioned, it can vary. One thing that helped me was creating a little routine around it - I always certify on Sunday evenings when I'm eligible, and then I check my account on Thursday/Friday. That way I'm not obsessively checking every day! Also, make sure you keep screenshots of your certification submission - I had one time where there was a glitch and having that proof really helped when I had to call in. Hope this helps ease some of the anxiety! šŸ¤ž

This is such great advice! The routine idea is genius - I'm definitely going to try the Sunday evening certification schedule. Taking screenshots is also something I never thought of but makes total sense. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey Emma! I totally get the nervousness - I was the same way when I first started certifying. From my experience, it usually takes about 3-5 business days for approval, but I've had it happen as quick as 2 days and as slow as a week during busy periods. The key things that helped me get faster approvals: make sure all your info is accurate, certify as early as possible when you're eligible (like Sunday nights), and double-check that you didn't miss any questions. If you filled everything out correctly and don't have any pending issues, you should be good to go! Try not to stress too much about it - I know it's easier said than done when you're waiting for your benefits. The system usually works, it just takes a bit of patience. Keep us posted on how it goes! šŸ¤ž

Thanks so much for the encouragement! It really helps to hear from someone who's been through this before. I did certify on Sunday evening like you suggested, so hopefully that'll help speed things up. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, but hearing everyone's experiences makes me feel a lot less anxious about it. I'll definitely keep you all posted on how it turns out! šŸ™

I've been certifying for about 6 months now and my experience has been pretty similar to what others have shared. The timing really does vary - sometimes I get approved in 2 days, other times it's taken up to a week. One thing I learned is to avoid certifying on Mondays if possible, since that seems to be when everyone does it and it can slow things down. I usually do mine on Sunday nights or Tuesday evenings and that seems to help. Also, don't panic if you don't see an update right away! I used to refresh the page constantly which just made me more anxious. Now I just check once a day until I see the approval. Hang in there Emma, you've got this! šŸ’Ŗ

That's really smart advice about avoiding Mondays! I never thought about how the day of the week could affect processing times, but it totally makes sense that everyone probably certifies at the beginning of the week. I'm definitely going to stick with Sunday evenings going forward. And you're so right about not constantly refreshing - I've already caught myself doing that way too much today! Thanks for the tips and the encouragement 😊
