When is CalFresh emergency allotment for October 2025 being issued? Dates vary by county?

I'm confused about the timing for the extra CalFresh allotment this month. Usually we get our regular benefits on the 11th, but I heard from my neighbor that the emergency supplements are coming on a different schedule for October. I've been budgeting really carefully and need to know when exactly these extra benefits will hit my EBT card. Does anyone know what day they're issuing the October emergency allotment? Does it vary by county? Last month it came on the 22nd for me (San Diego County) but I heard some people got theirs earlier.

extra allotment?? i thought those ended after covid. are they back again??

Yes! They restarted them this summer because of the economic situation. It's not as much as during COVID but they're giving about 40% extra for at least 6 months. Didn't you get a notice?

The emergency allotments for October 2025 are being issued between the 15th and 25th, depending on your county. San Diego is scheduled for the 19th this month (not the 22nd like last month). The schedule generally follows the first letter of your last name, but each county has some variations. You can check the exact schedule on the BenefitsCal portal under 'Payment Information' or by calling your county office. Make sure you've updated your contact info so you get the text alerts about deposits.

Thank you so much! I'll check the portal. I didn't realize it was based on last name. That's really helpful.

I spent THREE HOURS on hold with my county office trying to get this same info!!! They kept transferring me and then hanging up. So frustrating. They really need to make this information more accessible to people who depend on these benefits. My family can't plan our grocery budget without knowing these dates!!

I feel your pain. I used to spend hours trying to get through to my county office too. Then I discovered this service called Claimyr that helped me skip the CalFresh phone queues. It basically calls the county for you and then connects you when a real person answers. Saved me so much time and frustration! Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 - definitely worth checking out if you need to reach someone about your benefits.

The emergency allotment schedule varies by county AND by case number. Here's the general schedule for October 2025: - Counties A-F: October 15-17 - Counties G-L: October 18-20 - Counties M-R: October 21-23 - Counties S-Z: October 24-25 Within each group, your specific date depends on the last digit of your case number. If you call the EBT customer service line (not your county office), the automated system can tell you your exact date - just press 1, then 2, then 3 when prompted. It's much faster than trying to speak with someone. Also, make sure you've submitted your SAR7 if it was due last month, as missing that can delay your emergency allotment even if your regular benefits continue.

Wait I'm confused. I thought the emergency allotments were being loaded on the SAME day as regular benefits starting this month? That's what my notification said. Has this changed again? This is so confusing... I can never keep track of all these different dates and rules. 😩

my social worker told me its always the same day as your regular benefits but mines different each month so idk who to believe anymore lol

Your social worker is confusing emergency allotments with supplemental benefits. Regular CalFresh benefits are issued based on the last digit of your case number (dates 1-10 of each month). Emergency allotments follow the county schedule I mentioned above. However, if you qualify for supplemental benefits (different from emergency allotments), those ARE issued the same day as your regular benefits. It's confusing because they use similar terms for different things.

I just went through recertification last week and they told me the emergency allotments are going to continue until at least March 2026, which is good news! For October specifically, my worker said they're staggering the releases to avoid overwhelming the system. She also mentioned they're going to eventually combine regular and emergency benefits into one payment again, but not until January at the earliest.

That's great to hear they're extending it until March! Do you know if the amounts will stay the same or increase? Our family of 4 got about $340 extra last month which has been so helpful with grocery prices being so high.
