CalFresh benefits disappeared from EBT future deposit schedule - anyone else's missing?

I'm a bit worried right now. I just called the EBT automated line to check my account (like I always do around the 28th), and usually it tells me I have 1 future benefit deposit scheduled. It normally says something like 'You have 1 future deposit in the amount of $575 available on the 3rd of next month.' But when I called today - NOTHING! No mention of any future benefits at all! 😳 I haven't received any notices about being discontinued and my recertification isn't due until September. Has this happened to anyone else recently? I'm stressing because I've already planned my grocery budget around that deposit date! Should I panic or is this just a system glitch? 🤷🏽‍♀️

same thing jsut happened to me!!! i called yesterday and nothing! no future benefits. im soooo nervous cause i have 3 kids and we literally NEED that money for food next week. did u try calling the county? im gonna try tomorrw but the wait is always so long

No I haven't called yet, but now I'm really worried since it's not just me! I was hoping it was just a glitch with the automated system. Let me know what they say if you get through tomorrow? I have to work but might try calling during my lunch break.

This happened to me back in February. Turns out they were doing a system update and it affected how the automated system reports future deposits. If you haven't received any Notice of Action about discontinuance or reduction, your benefits are probably still approved. However, it's also possible they're waiting on verification from you that you might have missed. \n\nDid you submit your SAR7 recently? Or have you had any income changes that might have put you over the Income Reporting Threshold (IRT)? Those are the most common reasons benefits suddenly stop.

Thank you for this info! I did submit my SAR7 about two months ago and got an acknowledgment letter saying everything was complete. I haven't had any income changes at all. I really hope it's just a system update like you mentioned. Do you know how long it took for your benefits to show up after that February issue?

I'm a CalFresh eligibility worker, and I can confirm we ARE currently doing system updates in many counties that might affect the automated phone system. The good news is that if you haven't received a discontinuance notice, your benefits are most likely still being processed normally for next month. The electronic system sometimes has delays in showing future deposits, especially during the last week of the month when all the calculations are being finalized.\n\nIf you want to check your status, I recommend logging into BenefitsCal.com instead of calling the EBT line. The online portal often shows pending issuances even when the phone system doesn't. If nothing shows there either, then calling your county office is the next step.

Thank you so much for this information! I just checked BenefitsCal and you're right - it does show my benefits as 'pending issuance' for the 3rd. What a relief! The EBT phone system had me really worried. I appreciate your help!

DONT TRUST THE SYSTEM!!! This happened to me 3x last year and each time the worker said

omg now im even MORE worried!! i cant afford to lose benefits right now!

I had this exact issue last month and spent 3 days trying to get through to the county office. After being on hold for hours and getting disconnected repeatedly, I finally tried using Claimyr.com to get through. They called the county office for me and then connected me when they reached a worker. Got through in about 20 minutes instead of waiting for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8\n\nAnyway, turned out my benefits were fine - there was just a processing delay because of quarter-end system maintenance. But I was glad I checked because otherwise I would've been stressing all week.

is that service legit? sounds sketchy tbh

Totally legit! I was skeptical too but it worked great. The worker I spoke with said they're seeing more clients use it because of how hard it is to get through on the phone lines. Saved me from taking another day off work to wait on hold.

quick q - did u check your mail? sometimes they send important notices that u need to respond to or they stop benefits. happened to me and i almost missed it cuz it looked like junk mail lol

I actually did check my mail carefully for the past few weeks and didn't see anything from them. But thanks for mentioning this! I'll double check my stack of mail again tonight just to be sure.

Update on the system issue: I just called my EBT card and noticed that my future benefits are now showing correctly. So it seems like whatever glitch was happening is being fixed. Maybe check your account again? If it's still not showing, definitely follow through with calling the county to make sure everything is okay with your case.

You're right! I just called again and now it's showing my deposit for next month! What a relief. Seems like it really was just a temporary system issue. Thanks for suggesting I check again!

updated: I finally got thru to a worker! She said there WAS a system update this week that affected the EBT phone system but our benefits are still coming. She could see them in the county system even tho the phone line couldn't. So dont panic everyone! But still good to verify!!

That's what they ALWAYS say but then watch carefully when the 3rd comes! I'd still keep calling until you get written confirmation!

This is such a relief to read all these updates! I was getting really anxious about this same issue. I'm a single mom with two kids and CalFresh is a huge part of our monthly food budget. When I called the EBT line yesterday and didn't hear about any future deposits, I started panicking about whether I'd done something wrong or missed some paperwork. It's so reassuring to know it was just a system glitch and that other people experienced the same thing. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions - this community is so helpful! I'm definitely going to bookmark BenefitsCal.com for future reference instead of relying only on the phone system.

@d3f0a2b7ad40 I'm so glad this thread helped ease your anxiety! As a newcomer to this community, I'm really impressed by how supportive everyone is here. It's scary when you're dependent on these benefits and suddenly the system acts up - especially when you have kids to feed. I'm bookmarking BenefitsCal.com too after reading about it here. It's great to know there are multiple ways to check our status instead of just relying on that EBT phone line. Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope your benefits show up smoothly on the 3rd!

@546931c41cb6 Welcome to the community! I'm also pretty new here and this thread has been such an eye-opener. I had no idea there were so many different ways to check benefit status beyond just the EBT phone line. It's really comforting to see how people jump in to help when someone is worried about their benefits - especially @ce65d8d68218 providing that insider perspective as an eligibility worker. Good luck with your application process! From what I've learned here, it seems like having multiple ways to check your status (BenefitsCal.com, county office, etc.) is definitely the way to go.

This thread has been such a lifesaver! I'm fairly new to CalFresh and this community, and I experienced the exact same issue two days ago. When I called the EBT line and didn't hear about any future deposits, I immediately thought I had somehow messed up my case or missed some important deadline. Reading everyone's experiences here - especially @ce65d8d68218's explanation about the system updates and @250964b72182's similar experience in February - has really put my mind at ease. I checked BenefitsCal.com like suggested and sure enough, my benefits are showing as pending! It's amazing how much stress a simple system glitch can cause when you're relying on these benefits to feed your family. Thank you all for being so helpful and sharing your knowledge - this community is incredible!

Like you, I would have been completely panicked if the EBT system suddenly showed no future benefits - it's such a relief to learn that system glitches like this are more common than we think. The fact that @ce65d8d68218 was able to provide that professional insight as an eligibility worker, and that so many others shared their similar experiences, really shows how supportive everyone is here. I'm definitely going to be checking BenefitsCal.com regularly now instead of just relying on the phone system. It's scary how much we depend on these benefits working smoothly, but at least now we know there are backup ways to verify our status!

@e18af6abd76d Welcome to the community! I'm also brand new here and this thread has been such a perfect introduction to how helpful everyone is. Like you, I would have been absolutely terrified if I called the EBT line for the first time and heard nothing about future benefits - I would have assumed I'd already screwed something up! It's so reassuring to see that @513d690470b8's panic turned into relief once the system was fixed, and that @ce65d8d68218 was able to provide that insider knowledge about the updates.
