Anyone else missing their CalFresh deposit for March 2025? Benefits showing active but nothing loaded
So frustrated right now. Just checked my EBT card balance at midnight expecting my March benefits to be loaded (I'm scheduled for the 10th of each month), but there's nothing there! My online account still shows my case as active and I haven't received any notices about changes. I called the automated line and it says my case is active too, but no new deposit. This has never happened before and I'm seriously panicking because my fridge is basically empty. Is this happening to anyone else tonight or is it just my account? Should I wait until morning or start freaking out now?

That makes me feel a little better that it's not just me. Please update if yours comes through! I'll do the same.

This happens sometimes when there's a system-wide delay in benefit issuance. Your benefits are still coming if your case shows as active. There are a couple things to check:\n\n1. Verify on the BenefitsCal portal that your certification period hasn't ended (check the 'My Benefits' section)\n2. Make sure you submitted your last SAR7 if it was due recently\n3. Confirm you didn't exceed your Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) without reporting it\n\nIf everything looks correct on your end, I'd give it until the morning before calling your county office. Sometimes the EBT system has delays in processing the monthly issuance files.

Thanks for this info. Just checked BenefitsCal and my certification is good until September 2025, and my last SAR7 was submitted in January. My income hasn't changed at all. I guess I'll try to be patient until morning.

Try not to panic yet. I've seen this happen before where benefits are delayed by 12-24 hours due to system maintenance or processing delays. If you need emergency food assistance tonight, call 211 - they can connect you with local food pantries that might have emergency services. Your benefits should load by tomorrow, but if not, you'll need to call your county office first thing in the morning.

Thank you for sharing that info! At least there's an explanation. Noon tomorrow is manageable - I was worried it would be days or something worse.

Try Claimyr if you need to reach an actual CalFresh worker tomorrow and don't want to spend hours on hold. I was in a similar situation last month with missing benefits and the regular phone line kept disconnecting me after 45 minutes of waiting. I used claimyr.com and they got me through to a real person in about 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Much better than dealing with the constant busy signals and disconnects from the regular line.

Yeah it really does. I was skeptical too but after getting disconnected 3 times trying to reach someone about a verification issue, I tried it and got through. Saved me a ton of frustration.

THIS IS WHY I HATE THE SYSTEM!!! They NEVER warn us when theres going to be delays! Some of us have CHILDREN who need to EAT and they just expect us to wait with no explanation. I bet if it was THEIR kids going hungry they'd fix it real fast!!

I understand your frustration. For future reference, CalFresh benefits can be issued anytime during your issuance period (typically over 10 days), not necessarily at midnight. If you're in a situation where you're completely out of food, contact your county office and ask about emergency expedited benefits.

UPDATE: My benefits just loaded! It's 10:15am so earlier than the noon estimate someone mentioned. Check your accounts everyone!

For anyone who experiences this type of delay in the future, here are some tips:\n\n1. CalFresh benefits can legally be issued any time during your issuance period, so even though they typically arrive at a consistent time, occasional delays can happen\n\n2. If you're consistently running out of food before your next issuance, you might qualify for expedited services or emergency allotments\n\n3. Try to keep a small emergency food supply if possible\n\n4. Make sure your contact information is up to date so you get any notices about system maintenance or delays\n\n5. Remember that 211 is available 24/7 for emergency food resources\n\nGlad everyone got their benefits today!

Thank you for these tips! I'm definitely going to start keeping at least a few days of emergency food on hand. This was too stressful.

This thread is so helpful! I'm new to CalFresh and had no idea that delays like this could happen. I was panicking last night when my benefits didn't show up at the usual time, but reading everyone's experiences and the advice about keeping emergency food supplies really puts things in perspective. It's reassuring to know that the community here is so supportive during these stressful situations. Definitely bookmarking the 211 number and those other tips for the future!
