FAFSA data disappeared after correction signing - anyone else losing information?
I'm freaking out right now! Got an email saying I needed to make a correction to my FAFSA by signing it again. I logged in and did exactly that yesterday, everything seemed fine. But today when I checked my studentaid.gov account, ALL my information is completely gone! First it was showing my SAI score and application status normally, now there's literally NOTHING. My whole application seems to have vanished. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a system glitch or did I somehow delete my entire application by re-signing? I can't afford to start over from scratch 😱

•Really? Did your info come back? I'm supposed to hear back about my financial aid package next week and I'm terrified this will mess everything up.

I HATE the new FAFSA system!!!! This is the 3rd year I've had to deal with it and it gets WORSE every single time. Last year they lost my parent's tax information TWICE and I had to do the whole contributor section over again. The stupid system is broken but they keep pretending it works fine.

•Totally agree. I spent 6 hours trying to get my mom's contributor section to work only to have it all disappear when I hit submit. Had to start all over. 🙄

This is actually a common issue with the new FAFSA system after the 2024 redesign. When you make corrections and re-sign, there's typically a 24-72 hour processing period where your information appears to be missing from the dashboard. The data isn't actually gone - it's just not displaying correctly while the system processes your changes. If you want to verify your information is still in the system, you can: 1. Check your email for the confirmation that you successfully submitted the signature correction 2. Log out completely, clear browser cache, and log back in 3. Wait 48 hours and check again If after 72 hours your information still isn't displaying, you should contact Federal Student Aid directly.

•Thank you so much for the reassurance! I did get that confirmation email so hopefully everything is still in there. I'll try clearing my cache right now.

OMG i had something similar but not exact. After I fixed my parent contribution section and signed, my SAI score changed completely! Went from like 4200 to 9800 which would mess up my Pell Grant amount. When I called they said the system was recalculating based on the new info. Is ur SAI score different too or just everything missing?

•Everything's completely gone - no SAI score, no application status, nothing. It's like I never even submitted a FAFSA. I'm hoping it's just processing like @practical_advisor said.

I had this happen during the 2025-2026 FAFSA cycle and nearly had a heart attack. Called FSA for hours but couldn't get through. Finally I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get past the wait times and talk to someone right away. The agent confirmed my application was still in their system despite not showing up in my account. They fixed it while I was on the call. You can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Saved me from having to resubmit everything from scratch!

•Does that actually work? I've tried calling FSA like 10 times and either get disconnected or wait for 2+ hours.

•Yes! That's exactly why I tried it. I was so frustrated with getting disconnected. The service connected me to an agent in about 15 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hour wait.

Financial aid advisor here - this is a known issue with the FAFSA system after certain types of corrections. Here's what's happening behind the scenes: When you make a signature correction, the system temporarily removes your application from the visible dashboard while it processes the change and recalculates your SAI. This is different from regular corrections where data remains visible. Specifically for signature-only corrections: - The processing typically takes 48-72 hours - Your confirmation emails remain valid proof of submission - Your school's financial aid office can still see your FAFSA in their system - Once processing completes, your information will reappear If you're on a deadline for your school, contact your financial aid office directly and explain the situation. They can verify they have your FAFSA data even if you can't see it on your dashboard.

•Thank you SO much for this detailed explanation! This makes me feel so much better. I have a financial aid deadline next Friday so I was panicking. I'll give it the 72 hours before trying anything else.

UPDATE: My information is back!!! Just logged in and everything's showing normally again. Looks like it was just the system processing like everyone said. Thanks for all the help and reassurance everyone! For anyone who has this happen in the future - just wait it out for a couple days before panicking!

•Great to hear! This is exactly why I recommend waiting the full 72 hours before taking any drastic actions. The FAFSA system has many quirks, but data rarely gets permanently lost.

•Glad it worked out but still RIDICULOUS that the system works this way. They should at least put a message saying "processing" instead of just making everything disappear!
