FAFSA SAI score suddenly missing from my StudentAid.gov dashboard - can't find my summary

Logged into my StudentAid.gov account this morning and my SAI score and aid summary have completely disappeared! I submitted my 2025-2026 FAFSA application about two weeks ago, got confirmation, and even saw my initial SAI calculation last week. Now when I check my dashboard or activity section - NOTHING. It's like my application never existed. I've refreshed about 20 times, tried different browsers, even logged in on my phone. Still nothing. Has anyone else had their FAFSA summary vanish? Is this normal maintenance or should I be panicking?

Did you call them? I've been trying the FSA hotline for the past hour but can't get through. Just endless hold music.

This is actually quite common during their system update periods. StudentAid.gov typically performs maintenance every few weeks, and during these times, dashboard information can temporarily disappear. If you received a confirmation email when you initially submitted your application, your FAFSA is still in their system. I recommend waiting 24-48 hours before taking any action, as the information typically reappears after their updates are complete.

THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! And guess what? My application was COMPLETELY DELETED because of some stupid error with my parent's tax information that nobody bothered to tell me about! I had to start ALL OVER AGAIN and almost missed my school's priority deadline!!!! The system is BROKEN. Call them IMMEDIATELY and don't believe that "just wait" nonsense!!!

Oh no, that's terrifying. Did they at least explain why it happened? I'm going to try calling again right now.

I work in financial aid at a university, and I can provide some insight. What you're describing is likely related to the scheduled maintenance period that happens every third week of the month for the StudentAid.gov systems. During these times, your information isn't actually gone - it's just not visible temporarily while they update the databases. However, there's a small possibility it could be one of three other issues: 1. Your application was flagged for verification (you would receive an email) 2. There was a data mismatch between your tax info and what the IRS has on file 3. A technical error occurred during processing I recommend checking your email (including spam folders) for any communications from Federal Student Aid. If the information doesn't reappear within 48 hours, then you should definitely contact them directly.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I just checked my email thoroughly and found nothing from FSA. I'll wait until tomorrow evening before completely panicking. Do you think I should still try calling today just to be safe?

Have you tried using their messaging feature instead of calling? When I had a similar problem last year I spent days trying to call with no luck. The online message system at least gives you a case number you can reference later.

I didn't even know they had a messaging feature! Where exactly do I find that on the website?

If you're having trouble reaching someone at Federal Student Aid, I recently discovered a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an actual human being at FSA after days of trying. They basically hold your place in the phone queue and call you back when an agent is available. I used their service when my application was stuck in processing for weeks. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they also have a video demo at https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ that shows how it works. Saved me hours of hold music frustration!

That sounds really helpful, thanks! I'll look into it if my data doesn't show up by tomorrow. Hold music is seriously the worst torture.

quick question - did anyone notice if their aid amount changed after the system came back online? just wondering if they recalculate stuff during these updates??

They typically don't recalculate your SAI during routine maintenance. However, if you submitted a correction to your FAFSA around the same time, or if additional verification was completed, you might see changes to your aid eligibility when the system comes back online.

UPDATE: My information is back! Just wanted to let everyone know that my dashboard and SAI calculation reappeared this morning. Looks like it was just maintenance after all. Thanks for all the helpful info and keeping me from totally freaking out!

Great news! This is exactly what typically happens during maintenance periods. For future reference, StudentAid.gov occasionally posts maintenance schedules on their social media accounts, which can help you anticipate these temporary outages.
