FAFSA processed but no SAI number showing in my account - what now?
I submitted my FAFSA about 2 weeks ago and just got an email from my top-choice college saying they've received my application (yay!). But when I log into studentaid.gov, there's no SAI number showing anywhere. I've checked every tab and page I can find. The confirmation page just shows 'processed' but no actual SAI score. Is this normal? Do the colleges see something I don't? I'm freaking out because all my friends are saying they can see their SAI scores and are already comparing numbers. How am I supposed to plan financially if I can't even see my own SAI calculation?

SAI stands for Student Aid Index (replaced the old EFC). It should definitely show up on your FAFSA confirmation page once fully processed. Have you checked the 'Processed ISIRs' section? Sometimes there's a delay between when colleges receive your info and when it shows on your account. Give it another 2-3 business days maybe.

•Thanks for explaining! I looked everywhere but don't see anything called 'Processed ISIRs' - maybe I'm blind? I'll keep checking for a few more days but I'm getting nervous because housing applications are due soon and I need to know what I can afford.

•Ugh that makes me feel better but also worse lol. Did you do anything special to make it appear or just wait?

There are a few potential issues you might be experiencing: 1. Processing delay - While the college received notification your FAFSA was submitted, the actual calculation might still be processing. This year's system is experiencing significant delays. 2. Account synchronization issue - Sometimes your studentaid.gov account needs to be fully synced. Try logging out completely, clearing browser cache, and logging back in. 3. Verification selection - If you were selected for verification, your SAI calculation might be held until that process completes. I recommend checking the "Student Aid Report" section specifically, as that's where the SAI is officially displayed. If you don't see it there within 5 business days, you should contact Federal Student Aid directly.

•Wow thank you for all this info! I did try logging out and back in but no luck. I'm going to check specifically for the Student Aid Report now. Really hope I wasn't selected for verification because that sounds like it would delay everything even more.

DONT PANIC!! the whole fafsa system is a MESS this year with the new formula. my daughter submitted in January and we didn't see the SAI for almost 3 WEEKS even though colleges said they got it. then suddenly it appeared with no notification. the real problem is the colleges can see it but WE CANT which is ridiculous when were trying to make decisions!!

•3 WEEKS?? That's insane! Did you call anyone during that time or just wait it out? And yes, it's super frustrating that colleges can see it but we can't!

Have you tried calling the Federal Student Aid Info Center? They can tell you your SAI over the phone. I had to do this last month because my account was showing the wrong year's information.

•I tried calling yesterday but was on hold for 45 minutes before I had to go to class. Is there a better time to call when the wait isn't so crazy?

I was in this exact situation in February. The issue turned out to be that I needed to click on "View Student Aid Report (SAR)" which is different from just checking your application status. Once I downloaded the actual PDF report, my SAI was listed on the first page. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get through to a FAFSA agent quickly. I wasted hours on hold before a friend told me about it. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ and their site is claimyr.com. Saved me so much time and the agent was able to tell me my SAI over the phone and explain why it wasn't showing up properly in my account (turned out to be a display glitch they're working on fixing).

•Thank you! I'll look for that specific report. If I can't find it, I might try that Claimyr service because I really don't have time to spend hours on hold. Did the agent explain why colleges can see the SAI but we can't sometimes?

just be patient, mine took forever to show up too. the new system is garbage. if ur college already received it then ur fine, they can see everything even if u cant yet.

•Thanks for the reassurance. Seems like everyone is having similar issues. Just hate feeling in the dark about something so important!

To answer your follow-up question: Yes, there is a technical reason colleges can see your SAI before you can. When your FAFSA is processed, the information is sent to the colleges through an institutional system called the ISIR (Institutional Student Information Record). This happens automatically, often before your Student Aid Report (SAR) is generated for your personal account. The good news is that if colleges confirmed receipt, your application is definitely processed, and your SAI exists in the system. For planning purposes, you can: 1. Email your financial aid office at the college and ask them to share your SAI (many will do this) 2. Keep checking your studentaid.gov account daily for the SAR 3. Call Federal Student Aid directly (though wait times are significant) Just know that this disconnect between institutional and student-facing systems is frustrating but very common this year with all the FAFSA changes.

•This makes so much sense! I'm going to email my financial aid office today. I had no idea they'd be willing to share that information directly, but it would save me so much stress. Thank you for explaining the technical side - at least now I understand why this is happening.

UPDATE: I finally found my SAI! For anyone else having this issue, I had to go to studentaid.gov, click on "My Aid" at the top, then scroll down to "Processed ISIRs" (it's easy to miss), click into the current aid year, and THEN I could see my SAI. It wasn't obvious at all. Hope this helps someone else!

•You're amazing! I just found mine following your instructions! It was right there but so weirdly hidden. For anyone else reading this thread later - the "Processed ISIRs" section is very small and easy to miss, but that's where they hide the important numbers. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
