FAFSA Processing Complete But No SAI Calculation - Anyone Else Stuck?
I'm totally confused right now. My FAFSA has been showing "processing complete" for over a week now, but when I log in to studentaid.gov and check my SAI score, it still says "unable to calculate SAI at this time." I submitted everything correctly (triple-checked all my W-2 info and tax return numbers), and there's no indication of any errors or missing information in my application. Has anyone else run into this weird limbo state? Called the FSA hotline twice but got disconnected both times after waiting 45+ minutes. My college financial aid deadline is in 3 weeks and I'm starting to panic!

Did you try submitting a correction? I'm wondering if that might kick-start the calculation somehow...

This is actually a known issue with the 2025-2026 FAFSA. What's happening is that your application passed basic processing but is stuck in a verification queue waiting for SAI calculation. Several things could be triggering this:\n\n1. Income discrepancy between reported figures and tax records\n2. Unusual contributor relationship flags\n3. System backlog (most common right now)\n4. Data mismatch between SSN and name formats\n\nDON'T submit a correction unless you know something's wrong - it can restart your place in line. Instead, contact your school's financial aid office directly. They often have special access channels to check status and can submit an official inquiry on your behalf that gets priority handling.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! I'll contact my school's financial aid office tomorrow morning. Do you think I should mention these specific issues when I talk to them?

Just checked all my spam folders and there's nothing there. Did you have to submit additional documents once you found out about the verification?

This entire FAFSA system is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE this year!!! I've been dealing with the SAME EXACT ISSUE since JANUARY!!! \

I work in a financial aid office, and I've seen this exact situation quite a bit this cycle. The issue is primarily with the new contribution calculation system and verification flags. Here's what helps:\n\n1. Ask your school's financial aid office to submit a formal status inquiry through their admin portal - they have access we don't as individuals\n\n2. Get documentation ready now: tax transcripts, W-2s, bank statements showing assets reported\n\n3. If your school has a deadline, ask them for a specific extension based on FAFSA processing delays (many schools are being flexible)\n\nDon't panic about your son's aid package - the Department of Education has issued guidance to schools about these delays. Most institutions are working with families facing this issue.

Thank you for this!! I've been pulling my hair out. I'll talk to the financial aid office tomorrow about a formal status inquiry. Really appreciate someone who understands the system giving actual helpful advice!

I had the same problem for weeks and finally got it resolved yesterday! After trying everything else, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually reach a live FAFSA agent without the endless holding and disconnects. They have this service where they wait on hold for you then call when an agent is ready - saved me literally hours. The agent saw that my application needed manual verification because my mom's last name in the system had a hyphen but my FAFSA application didn't include it. Such a stupid reason for a month-long delay! They fixed it on the spot and my SAI showed up this morning. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

That's really helpful - I hadn't heard of this service before. Did the FAFSA agent need to verify your identity or anything when they called you back?

Yes, they still verified my identity with the standard questions (name, DOB, address, last 4 of SSN). The Claimyr service just handles the waiting part and connects you once an agent is available. Saved me from being on hold for hours or getting disconnected again.

My daughter got her SAI this morning! We did literally nothing different, it just suddenly appeared. So maybe it's just a waiting game? This whole FAFSA thing is so stressful!!

UPDATE: Just wanted to share that I followed advice from this thread and got it resolved! I did two things: (1) had my school financial aid office submit a formal inquiry, and (2) used that Claimyr service to actually reach a FSA agent without getting disconnected. \n\nTurns out there was a flag on my application because I have the same first and last name as my dad (I'm a Jr.) and the system thought it was a duplicate application. The agent removed the flag, and my SAI showed up about 12 hours later. \n\nFor anyone else stuck in this situation, definitely talk to your school's financial aid office AND try to reach an actual FSA agent who can see the specific flags on your application. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for reporting back! This is exactly why it's important to actually speak with an agent - those system flags can be for the most random reasons. Glad you got it sorted out!

THANK YOU for sharing your solution! I'm going to try the same approach tomorrow. So tired of this broken system.
