When do I get my unemployment check from Washington ESD?
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday and it's now Thursday. My claim shows as processed but I still haven't received my unemployment payment. This is my third week claiming and the first two payments came on Tuesday. Is there a delay this week or did something go wrong? I really need to know when I can expect my check because I have bills due tomorrow.

usually takes 2-3 business days after you file your weekly claim, sometimes longer if there's a holiday

•There wasn't a holiday this week though. Should I be worried if it's Thursday and still nothing?

•check your payment method in your account, maybe something changed

Payment timing depends on several factors. If your claim shows 'Paid' status in your Washington ESD account, the payment should arrive within 2-3 business days. For direct deposit, it's typically faster than debit card. Check if there are any holds or issues listed in your account that might delay payment.

•It shows 'Paid' but still no money. I have direct deposit set up. This is so frustrating.

•If it shows paid and you have direct deposit, contact your bank first to see if there's a pending deposit. Sometimes banks hold unemployment payments for verification.

I had this exact problem last month! Turns out Washington ESD had some system issues that delayed payments by 2 days. If you can't get through on the phone (good luck with that), try using Claimyr.com - they helped me reach an actual agent who could check my payment status. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•Never heard of Claimyr before. Does it actually work? I've been trying to call Washington ESD for hours.

•Yeah it worked for me. Got through to someone in like 20 minutes instead of calling all day. They could see my payment was stuck in processing and fixed it.

•That sounds too good to be true. How much does it cost?

Washington ESD typically processes payments Monday through Friday. If you filed Sunday and it's Thursday with no payment, there could be an adjudication issue or verification hold. Log into your account and check the 'Issues and Determinations' section for any flags.

•I checked and there's nothing in the issues section. This is so confusing.

•Then it's likely just a processing delay. But definitely worth calling to confirm your payment method is correct.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been waiting for my payment for over a week and nobody at Washington ESD can tell me why. They just keep saying 'it's processing' but my bills don't care about their processing delays!

•I feel your pain. The unemployment system is so frustrating when you need the money.

•It's ridiculous that we can't get straight answers about our own money!

check if your bank account info is still correct in your profile, sometimes it gets messed up

•Good idea, I'll double check that right now.

For regular UI payments in Washington, the schedule is: File weekly claim Sunday-Saturday, processing happens Monday-Tuesday, payments issued Tuesday-Wednesday, funds available Wednesday-Thursday. If you're past Thursday and still nothing, there's definitely an issue that needs attention.

•This is exactly the timeline I expected. Since it's not following this pattern, something must be wrong.

•Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. Turned out my employer contested my claim and it went into adjudication without me knowing.

Jason Brewer
•How did you find out about the adjudication? I don't see anything like that in my account.

Update on Claimyr - I used it again yesterday for a different issue and got through to Washington ESD in about 15 minutes. The agent was able to see exactly where my payment was in the system and when it would be released. Worth trying if you can't get through the regular way.

•I'm going to try this. The regular phone number just keeps hanging up on me.

•Ok maybe I was wrong about it being too good to be true. Might be worth a shot.

This reminds me of when my cousin was waiting for her unemployment check last year. She waited almost two weeks before finding out there was a verification issue. Sometimes the system doesn't show problems right away. I told her to keep calling but she never could get through. Finally her payment just showed up one day with back pay.

•Two weeks?! I can't wait that long for my payment.

Sophie Duck
•Yeah it was terrible for her. She had to borrow money from family to get by.

hang in there, these delays happen more often than they should

•Thanks, I'm trying to stay patient but it's hard when bills are due.

If your payment shows 'Paid' in the system but you haven't received funds after 3 business days, that's grounds for an inquiry. Washington ESD has specific timelines they must follow for benefit payments. Document when you filed, when it showed paid, and when you should have received funds.

•I've been keeping track of everything. Filed Sunday, showed paid Tuesday, now it's Thursday afternoon.

Makayla Shoemaker
•That's definitely outside normal processing time. You need to speak with someone to trace the payment.

Are you sure you filed correctly? Sometimes if you make a mistake on the weekly claim it can delay everything

Jason Brewer
•I filed the same way I have for the past three weeks. Nothing changed on my end.

There are several reasons payments get delayed: bank verification holds, adjudication flags, system maintenance, or payment method issues. Since your account shows 'Paid' status, it's most likely either a bank hold or a technical processing delay on Washington ESD's end.

•I called my bank and they said there are no pending deposits or holds. So it must be on Washington ESD's side.

•Then you definitely need to contact Washington ESD directly to trace where your payment is in their system.

I tried that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and actually got through to Washington ESD! The agent found that my payment was stuck because of a technical glitch and she released it manually. Got my direct deposit the next morning.

•Really?! I'm definitely trying this now. How long did it take?

•About 12 minutes to get connected. Way better than calling the regular number for hours.

Why should we have to use third party services just to reach our own state agency?! This is insane!

•I agree it shouldn't be this hard, but if it gets results then at least there's an option.

For future reference, Washington ESD has specific payment schedules posted on their website. Regular UI benefits are typically processed Tuesday/Wednesday with funds available Wednesday/Thursday. If you don't receive payment by Friday of the week you filed, there's definitely an issue that requires follow-up.

UPDATE: Used Claimyr and got through to Washington ESD in about 10 minutes! Agent found my payment was held up in their verification system even though nothing showed in my account. She released it and said I should have the money by tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone for the help, especially those who mentioned Claimyr!
