If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

One more thing - make sure you understand the difference between state disability insurance and federal SSDI. They have different rules and requirements. State disability is usually shorter term while SSDI is for long-term or permanent disabilities.

Oh wow, I didn't even realize there were different types of disability benefits. I have more research to do.

Washington state doesn't have its own disability insurance program like some states do, so you'd be looking at federal programs or private insurance through your employer.

thanks for asking this question OP, i was wondering the same thing but was too nervous to post about it. feels good to know im not the only one dealing with this kind of situation

You're definitely not alone! I was nervous about posting too but everyone has been so helpful.

I work in HR and deal with unemployment claims regularly. For a standard layoff situation like yours, regular unemployment insurance through Washington ESD is the correct program. Don't let all the different terms confuse you.

Thank you for the professional perspective! That gives me confidence I'm on the right track.

You're welcome. The system can seem overwhelming but regular UI handles most situations.

Bottom line: if you're unemployed through no fault of your own and looking for work, apply for regular unemployment insurance. That's the main program and covers most people's situations.

Great! Remember to file your weekly claims on time once you're approved.

Good luck with your claim! The process gets easier once you understand the basics.

Just wanted to add - if you had other jobs this year before going on unemployment, you might have already had enough taxes withheld from those paychecks to cover the unemployment taxes too. Check your last paystub to see your year-to-date withholdings.

0 coins

Oh that's a really good point! I worked until September so I did have taxes taken out of those paychecks. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing.

Grace Lee

Exactly! A lot of people forget about their earlier withholdings when they start panicking about unemployment taxes.

The Washington ESD website has a section about taxes on unemployment benefits if you want to read more. It's under the 'Managing Your Claim' section I think. They explain the federal vs state tax situation pretty clearly.

I'll definitely check that out. Probably should have read all that stuff more carefully when I first filed!

The Boss

We all learn these things the hard way. At least now you know for next time (hopefully there won't be a next time though!).

The key is to stay organized and keep good records of everything. File promptly, keep track of your job search activities, and don't hesitate to reach out for help if you need it. The system works, but it takes patience.

I really appreciate everyone's help and advice. This community is amazing!

Best of luck with your claim process! Manufacturing jobs can be tough to replace, but with unemployment benefits providing some financial stability, you'll have time to find the right opportunity.

Thank you! I'm optimistic about finding something good with a little time and effort.

Just want to add that if you do any freelance or gig work while collecting unemployment, you need to report that income on your weekly claims. Even small amounts need to be reported.

0 coins

Good point. I do some occasional freelance graphic design work so I'll need to keep track of that.

0 coins

Yes, be very careful with this. Any income needs to be reported, even if it's just $20 from a small gig.

0 coins

The good news is that once you get your claim established and get into the weekly routine, it becomes pretty automatic. The hardest part is just getting started and understanding all the requirements.

0 coins

That's what I'm hoping for. Thanks again everyone for walking me through this. I'm going to start my application tonight.

You've got this! Feel free to come back and ask if you run into any specific issues during the process.
