Weekly claims all disqualified after layoff from shared work - no appeal option showing
I'm freaking out right now and could really use some guidance. I was on the Shared Work program until Jan 12th when my company completely laid me off. Since then, I've filed 4 weekly claims (starting Jan 19th) and EVERY SINGLE ONE shows as

Thanks for the tip. What time exactly do you mean by early morning? I've tried at 8:01am and it's still the same message. Did they fix your problem quickly once you got through?

When you transition from Shared Work to regular UI, the system often flags it for review because it looks like you're double-dipping (even though you're not). The adjudication process means they're manually reviewing your claim to verify the change in employment status. Unfortunately, this is taking 3-6 weeks right now.\n\nA few things to check:\n1. Did you actually file a new claim after being laid off, or just continue filing weekly claims?\n2. Check your messages in eServices - they might have sent you an information request that you missed\n3. Make sure your employer filed the proper separation notice\n\nThe lack of appeal option is normal during adjudication - you can't appeal until they make a determination. It's frustrating but you WILL get backpay once approved.

Oh no, I didn't file a new claim! I thought I just needed to keep filing weekly and mark that I wasn't working anymore. Should I file a new claim now or will that mess things up even more? I don't see any messages in eServices asking for info.

You definitely need to file a new claim after being laid off from Shared Work. The Shared Work program is a completely different benefit category than regular UI. Here's what you should do:\n\n1. File a new regular UI claim immediately (this won't affect your current weeks in adjudication)\n2. Upload documentation of your layoff in the document upload section\n3. Continue filing weekly claims while this gets sorted out\n\nAs for reaching ESD, I was stuck in a similar situation and tried for weeks. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 \n\nThe agent I spoke with was able to expedite my adjudication and fixed my claim status. Worth considering if you're getting desperate.

Is Claimyr legit? I've heard mixed things about services that claim to help with unemployment stuff. Did they actually get you through to a real ESD person?

Yes, it's legitimate. They don't handle your claim or anything - they just connect you directly to an actual ESD agent. I was skeptical too, but it worked when nothing else did. The agent I spoke with was definitely a real ESD employee who had full access to my claim details and was able to help.

I'm going to file that new claim right now! Thank you so much for explaining - the ESD website is so confusing and nowhere did it clearly say I needed to file a new claim after Shared Work ended. I'll look into Claimyr too if I can't get through by calling first thing tomorrow. This whole situation has been so stressful.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO DENY YOU BENEFITS!!!! I went through this exact nightmare last year and it took 8 WEEKS to resolve!!!! They KNOW exactly what they're doing. They hope you'll just give up. My weekly claims were all marked as DISQUALIFIED too and when I FINALLY got through to someone they claimed it was a \

I don't think it's a conspiracy, they're just severely understaffed. My cousin works at ESD and says they have thousands of claims with only a handful of adjudicators. But I agree about keeping records of everything!

UNDERSTAFFED is NO EXCUSE for a system that AUTOMATICALLY disqualifies people transitioning from one program to another!!! They could EASILY program it to handle this common situation!!

One other critical thing I forgot to mention - once you file your new claim, you need to monitor your eServices dashboard daily. They might still need ID verification or additional documentation from you. Sometimes these requests don't trigger email notifications, so you need to proactively check.\n\nAlso, when your weeks are in adjudication, make absolutely sure you don't miss filing any weekly claims. Even though they show as disqualified now, once adjudication clears, those weeks will be paid retroactively - but ONLY if you filed them properly.

Just filed the new claim! And yes, I've been religiously filing every single week even with the disqualifications. The system is so weirdly designed... I wish they'd just have clear instructions for situations like this. Thank you so much for your help.

I had a similar issue when transitioning from regular UI to Extended Benefits last year. The trick that finally worked for me was sending a secure message through eServices AND calling the technical support line (not the regular claims line). The tech support folks sometimes have more availability and, while they can't fix claim issues directly, they can escalate to a claims specialist. \n\nBe super specific in your message: \

I'll try that trick! At this point I'm willing to try anything to get through to an actual person.

i went thru this in december!!! such a hassle. make sure your job didnt mark you as 'fired for cause' instead of laid off. my boss did that and it caused all kinds of problems. took forever to fix!!!

UPDATE: I finally got through to ESD this morning after trying the early morning trick! The agent confirmed I needed to file a new claim after transitioning from Shared Work (which I did yesterday). She said my previous weekly claims will be reviewed and adjusted once the new claim is processed. She also expedited my adjudication by adding a note to my file. Thank you everyone for your help - I feel so much better knowing what's happening now!

Great news! How long did she say it would take for everything to get fixed?

She said it should take 7-10 business days for the new claim to process, and then another 3-5 days for the previous weekly claims to be adjusted and paid out. Fingers crossed it actually happens that quickly!
