DEO agent deleted my employer during claim fix - now showing ineligible!

I'm completely panicking right now. Last week my CONNECT system kept saying I was employed when filing my weeks (I've been laid off since February 12th). After waiting on hold for 4 HOURS, I finally got through to a DEO agent who said she could fix it. She told me she was 'removing the system flag' that was causing the problem and assured me I could claim my weeks after 24 hours. Well I just checked this morning and now my status shows INELIGIBLE because apparently she DELETED MY ENTIRE EMPLOYER from my claim history! How is that even possible?? I had 6 weeks of pending payments that I desperately need for rent next month. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Do I need to submit some kind of appeal or should I try calling again (dreading another 4-hour wait)?

OMG the exact same thing happened to me in January!!! The DEO rep 'helped' me by completely messing up my claim. I ended up having to file an appeal AND submit a Request for Reconsideration form. It was a total nightmare and took almost 3 weeks to fix.

3 WEEKS?? I don't have 3 weeks... Did you keep claiming weeks during that time? I'm worried if I claim again it'll make things worse somehow.

You need to call back immediately and ask for a supervisor. What happened is the agent probably deleted your employment verification instead of just removing the return-to-work flag. This is unfortunately a common error when they're rushing through calls. Request that they restore your employment history from their backup system and reactivate your claim. Make sure to tell them it was their error that caused this, not anything you did wrong. Also, yes - continue claiming your weeks even while this is being fixed.

this advice is good but ur gonna spend days trying to get thru to DEO. their phone system is garbage.

I had to deal with something similar when a DEO agent messed up my employment dates. The CONNECT system is seriously flawed and the agents have too much power to change things without proper verification. You should definitely call back, but also go ahead and submit an appeal through your CONNECT account by clicking on the

Thank you so much for this specific advice. I just checked and there is a determination letter dated yesterday. I'll definitely start the appeal process right away while also trying to call.

After days of getting busy signals with DEO, I finally tried a service called Claimyr that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting for hours. It worked surprisingly well for me when I had a similar employer verification issue. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj or their website claimyr.com. Definitely worth it considering the amount of benefits at stake.

is that service legit? i've seen it mentioned but was afraid it might be a scam or something

It's definitely legit. They basically keep dialing for you and then call you when they get through. Saved me from having to redial for hours. My husband was skeptical too until I actually got through to DEO in under 30 mins.

THE WHOLE SYSTEMS BROKEN!!!! I had THREE different DEO agents give me THREE different answers about my claim issues. One deleted my work search records completely! These people don't know what they're doing half the time and WE suffer for THEIR mistakes. And then they have the NERVE to say we owe overpayments later! Make sure u document EVERYTHING - get the agents name, ID number, date/time u called. You'll need it when they inevitably mess up again.

Thank you! I never would've known to ask for that specific form. I really appreciate the detailed help. I've been taking screenshots of everything now just in case.

I didn't know CareerSource could help with this kind of issue! That's really good to know as a backup option.

UPDATE: I finally got through to DEO after trying all morning! The new agent was actually super helpful and said this happens more often than you'd think. Apparently the first agent accidentally deleted my employer while trying to remove a \

Great news! Make sure to check your CONNECT account daily over the next few days. Sometimes these corrections happen faster than they tell you, and you want to claim any available weeks as soon as they become available. Glad you got it resolved!

So happy for you! Did you happen to get the agent's name? It's always good to keep track of who actually helps vs who makes things worse.

Yes! Her name was Melissa and she gave me her ID number too. I wrote down everything this time. Lesson learned!
