DEO claim stuck on pending since July 11th - normal wait time? Can't get past automated phone system
I submitted my unemployment claim through the CONNECT system on July 11th and it's still showing 'pending' with no updates. It's been over 2 weeks now and I'm getting really worried. Is this a normal wait time for DEO these days? I tried calling their customer service line but all I get is an automated message and then it disconnects me! How am I supposed to check my claim status if I can't even talk to a human? I've claimed my weeks on time and uploaded all the required documents. This waiting game is seriously stressing me out. Has anyone else experienced this recently? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

•4 weeks?! I can't wait that long, I have bills due next week. Did you do anything special to get it processed or just wait it out?

Unfortunately, the DEO is experiencing significant processing delays this summer. Many claims are taking 3-4 weeks to move from pending to adjudication, and then potentially another 1-2 weeks to reach a determination. The key is to make sure you've completed ALL the requirements: 1. Uploaded your ID documents to ID.me (if requested) 2. Completed all work search requirements (5 per week in Florida) 3. Claimed your weeks on time 4. Responded to any fact-finding questions Check your CONNECT inbox daily for any communications requiring a response, as these could be holding up your claim.

•Thanks for the detailed response. I've done everything on your list except I'm not sure about #4 because I can't see if there are any fact-finding questions waiting for me. The CONNECT site is confusing and I'm worried I'm missing something important.

Two weeks is actually pretty normal these days with DEO. After the system upgrade in May, claims are taking longer to process. Last month mine was pending for 17 days before it changed to adjudication, then another week before I got paid. If you need to speak with someone, try calling right when they open at 7:30am. I've had better luck getting through then. Also, check your CONNECT inbox daily - they sometimes send requests for additional info that can delay your claim if you don't respond quickly.

•I've tried calling at different times but never got through. I'll try the 7:30am trick tomorrow. And I've been checking my inbox obsessively, nothing there yet!

THE DEO PHONE SYSTEM IS DELIBERATELY DESIGNED TO HANG UP ON YOU!!!!! I spent 3 WEEKS trying to get through before I finally reached someone. By then my claim was already delayed by over a month and I was about to be evicted. This isn't normal and shouldn't be acceptable! They're understaffed and overwhelmed but that's not OUR problem when we need our benefits to SURVIVE. Keep calling and don't give up!!!

I was in the exact same situation last month and was going crazy trying to reach someone at DEO. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to a DEO agent in about 20 minutes. They have this system that navigates the phone tree for you and calls you back when they have an agent on the line. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent I spoke with was able to see that my claim was stuck because of an employer response issue. They pushed it through to adjudication while I was on the phone. Worth checking out if you're desperate to speak with someone.

•I've never heard of this service before. Did it actually work? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point.

•Yes, it worked for me! I was skeptical too but when you're desperate to reach DEO, it's worth it. The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly why my claim was stuck and resolved it during the call.

two weeks is nothing lol. i waited 7 weeks last year and my buddy waited almost 3 months. DEO is always a mess but summer is extra bad because of all the seasonal workers filing at once. just keep claiming ur weeks and eventually it'll go through

•7 WEEKS?? 3 MONTHS??? How did you guys survive? I can't even make it to the end of this month without some income coming in.

Have you checked if there's a 'pending issue' on your claim? Log into CONNECT, go to 'Determination, Pending Issue and Decision Summary' and see if there's anything listed there. Sometimes they need additional information but don't clearly notify you. Also, this happened to me too - check your spam folder for emails from DEO! I missed an important message because it went to spam, and that delayed my claim for weeks.

•That's a good tip, I didn't even know about that section in CONNECT. I just checked and there IS a pending issue about 'employment separation'! It says they're waiting for my former employer to respond. At least now I know why it's delayed.

Now that you found the pending issue about employment separation, that explains the delay. Your employer has 10 business days to respond to DEO about why you're no longer employed. If they don't respond within that timeframe, DEO should proceed with your claim, but it can still take a few extra days for the system to update. Since you know what's holding things up, I'd recommend continuing to claim your weeks on time while waiting. If it goes beyond 3 weeks total, then it would be worth trying to speak with a DEO agent, as they might be able to expedite things if your employer hasn't responded.

•Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I'll keep claiming my weeks and wait a bit longer. If I get to the 3-week mark with no movement, I'll try that Claimyr service someone mentioned to reach a DEO agent.

Just wanted to share that employment separation issues are one of the most common reasons for delays. The good news is that once your employer responds (or the response period ends), these usually move pretty quickly. Make sure you've entered your employment history accurately in CONNECT, as any discrepancies between your information and your employer's can trigger additional reviews.

I had a similar employment separation issue back in February and it took about 19 days total to resolve. Once it moved to adjudication, I got paid within 3 days. Hang in there!

•Thanks for sharing your experience. That gives me hope! Did you have to do anything to move it along or did it just resolve on its own?

•Mine just resolved on its own after my employer responded. But I have friends who had to call in to get things moving after waiting too long.
