DEO unemployment account shows 'pending' but June 24th payment date approaching - can't reach anyone!
I'm at my breaking point with the Florida DEO unemployment system. My claim status has been stuck on 'pending' for weeks now, and my next payment date is supposed to be June 24th (which is just days away!). Every single time I try calling the DEO, I get the automated 'all operators are busy' message and then they just hang up on me! I've tried calling at different times (early morning, midday, right before closing) - nothing works. I had my claim interview back on May 9th and everything seemed fine, but now my CONNECT account just shows 'in process' with zero explanation. I need to actually talk to a real human being to figure out what's going on before I miss my June payment completely. Has anyone found ANY way to get through to an actual person? This is beyond frustrating!

OMG the DEO phone system is a JOKE!!! I went through this same exact thing last month with my claim. I called like 30+ times a day for TWO WEEKS and kept getting disconnected. The worst part is seeing other people getting their payments while yours is just stuck in limbo with zero explanation. Have you tried sending messages through the CONNECT portal? That didn't work for me either but maybe you'll have better luck.

•I sent 3 messages through CONNECT and got zero responses. It's like shouting into a void. Did your claim eventually get processed? What finally worked for you?

•Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't thought about contacting my state rep. I'll find their email right now.

Your claim is likely stuck in adjudication, which happens when there's something the system has flagged for review. Common reasons include discrepancies in reported wages, separation issues with your former employer, or incomplete work search requirements. Since your interview was on May 9th, you're approaching the 6-week mark, which unfortunately is still within their "normal" processing timeframe for complex cases. Here are some steps you can take: 1. Check your CONNECT inbox for any fact-finding questionnaires that might need your response 2. Verify all of your work search activities were properly documented 3. Look at your claim determination status to see if there's any specific issue listed Reaching an actual person is definitely your best bet, but as you've found, it's nearly impossible through the regular number.

•Thank you for the detailed response. I didn't realize 6 weeks could be considered "normal" - that's insane! I've checked my CONNECT inbox multiple times and there's nothing there requiring my response. All my work search activities are documented correctly (5 per week as required). The frustrating thing is there's no specific issue listed - it just says "in process" with no explanation whatsoever.

I had the exact same problem after my interview a few months ago. Tried calling dozens of times and always got disconnected. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr.com to get through to a DEO agent. It basically keeps dialing for you until it connects, then calls you back when it gets through. It saved me from going insane with all the redials. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent I finally spoke with was able to see that there was a discrepancy in my employment history that was causing the delay, and they fixed it right there on the phone. My payment was processed two days later.

•I just watched the video - that looks like exactly what I need right now! I've literally wasted hours trying to get through on my own. I'll try this service today because I'm desperate to get this resolved before my payment date passes. Thanks for the recommendation!

I've been through the Florida unemployment system several times, and unfortunately what you're experiencing is pretty standard. Here's what you need to know: 1. The "in process" status usually means your claim is in adjudication, which can take 4-8 weeks to resolve (yes, even after your interview). 2. If your payment date is June 24th, that's when payment would be issued IF your claim is approved by then. If it's still in adjudication, that date will pass with no payment, but you'll eventually receive all back payments once approved. 3. To reach a live person, your best options are: - Call exactly at 7:30 AM when they open - Try the alternative number: 833-352-7759 instead of the main line - Contact your state representative or senator (they have direct lines to DEO) - Use a service that can get through the phone system for you 4. Check your Determination Status section in CONNECT - sometimes there's more information there about what's causing the hold-up. The system is frustrating but keep trying. All benefits you're eligible for will be paid retroactively once your claim is processed.

•this is so messed up!! why do they make it so hard for people who ALREADY lost their jobs?? i don't understand why the government makes everything so complicated. some people can't wait 8 WEEKS for money they need for food and rent!!

•Thank you for the detailed advice! I tried that alternate number but it just routes me back to the same automated system. I'm definitely going to try calling right at 7:30am tomorrow. I checked the Determination Status section and there's nothing helpful there - just says my claim is pending. It's reassuring to know I'll eventually get the back payments, but I really need this money now for bills coming due next week.

my neighbor works for DEO (not supposed to tell anyone lol) and she says they're super backed up right now because they laid off a bunch of people after the pandemic and now they don't have enough staff to handle all the claims. she says june is always one of their busiest months too. doesn't help you right now but at least explains why it's taking so long!!

•That's interesting insider info - thanks for sharing! They should really hire more people if they're that backed up. It's not fair to leave people hanging for weeks with no income.

Has anyone here gone to a CareerSource office in person? I've heard sometimes they can help with DEO issues? I'm facing a similar situation with my claim being stuck and I'm wondering if showing up in person somewhere might help.

•CareerSource offices can help with general questions and job searching, but they don't have direct access to adjudication or the ability to change claim statuses. They're separate entities from the DEO, although they do work together. They might be able to help you understand what's happening with your claim, but they can't fix technical issues or expedite processing unfortunately.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at DEO! I used the Claimyr service that was suggested here, and it worked exactly as described. They called me back within 30 minutes with a DEO agent on the line. Turns out there was a discrepancy between what my employer reported for my last day worked and what I had entered on my application (I was off by two days). The agent was able to update it immediately and told me my claim should be processed within 48 hours. What a relief! I've been stressed for weeks over this. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•That's awesome!!! So glad you got it fixed! It's RIDICULOUS that such a small discrepancy caused such a huge delay. Two days difference?? Come on DEO, get it together! But seriously, happy for you that it's getting resolved!
