DEO system asking for new regular RA application after benefits expired - What to do?

I'm in a total panic right now. I've been collecting unemployment for about 4 months, and when I tried to log in to CONNECT yesterday to claim my weeks, the system suddenly gave me this message saying I need to apply for a new claim because it's a new calendar quarter? It said something about reviewing my eligibility for regular 'reemployment assistance' but I don't understand what that means for my current claim. Does anyone know if I'm supposed to start a completely new application or if there's some other way to continue my current benefits? The CONNECT dashboard looks different now and I don't see any clear option to proceed. I'm worried if I start a new application it might mess up my current payments or create some kind of fraud flag. My benefits are the only income I have right now while I'm still searching for work in the healthcare field. I've been doing all my required work searches (5 per week) and documenting everything correctly. Any help would be SO appreciated because I really can't afford to miss payments.

This happens when ur benefit year ends. You gotta apply again even if u think u dont qualify. The system makes everyone reapply to check if u have any new work history that might qualify u for regular unemployment. just follow the prompts and submit a new application.

Thanks for responding! So I definitely need to submit a whole new application? I'm worried because it mentions 'regular reemployment assistance' and I don't think I qualify for that based on my work history. Will this affect the payments I'm already receiving?

This is a normal part of the DEO's quarterly review process. When a calendar quarter ends, CONNECT automatically prompts claimants to reapply to determine if you now qualify for Regular Reemployment Assistance (RA) instead of other programs. This is because Florida law requires DEO to check if your recent work history might qualify you for regular state benefits before continuing other benefit types. You should: 1. Complete the new application as prompted 2. Answer all questions truthfully about your work history 3. After submission, the system will determine your eligibility 4. If you don't qualify for regular RA, the system should automatically continue your appropriate benefit type One important note: make sure to continue claiming your weeks on schedule even while this new application is processing. Missing week certifications can cause payment delays regardless of application status.

Thank you so much for explaining this! I was so confused about why this was happening. I'll go ahead and complete the new application today. Just to confirm - this won't create any problems with my current claim or make it look like I'm trying to double-dip or anything? And I should keep claiming weeks as normal?

I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN LAST MONTH!!! Whatever you do, DON'T start a new application using a different email or anything like that. The system is literally just checking if you've had any W2 work in the past quarter that might qualify you for regular state benefits instead. Just follow the prompts in CONNECT and fill out the application like they ask. It'll take about 45 minutes to complete, and then your claim will go into "pending" status for about a week while they review. My payments paused for ONE week during this review and then started back up automatically after they determined I still didn't qualify for regular RA. The whole process is frustrating and confusing, but it's just their system being dumb.

This is actually a standard quarterly review that happens with all unemployment claims in Florida. The DEO system is checking if you might now qualify for Regular Reemployment Assistance based on any new employment you might have had. Here's what's happening technically: When you first apply, the DEO looks at your base period (first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters) to determine eligibility. Each quarter, they need to check if your eligibility status has changed. You should complete the new application as requested, but you shouldn't worry about it affecting your current benefits negatively unless your employment situation has changed. The system will determine if you qualify for regular RA, and if not, should maintain your current benefit type. If you run into any issues with reaching a DEO agent to help with this process, I've had great success using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a service that helps you get through to DEO agents quickly instead of waiting on hold for hours. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. It was a lifesaver when I had a similar issue with my quarterly review.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! That makes more sense now. I just submitted the new application, so fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. I'll definitely check out that Claimyr service if I run into problems - the DEO phone lines are impossible to get through normally.

just wanna add that everyone freaks out about this but its totally normal. the deo systems are programmed to do this automatic check every quarter. my husband went thru it twice and his benefits continued fine after they processed the review. usually takes 5-7 days but sometimes up to 2 weeks.

I'm going through the EXACT same situation right now! Logged in yesterday to claim my weeks and got hit with that message about a new application. I completely panicked because I thought my benefits were being cut off for some reason. I called DEO about 27 times and of course couldn't get through to anyone. But I did find some info on their website that this is their standard quarterly review process. I started the new application this morning and it's asking all the same questions as the original application. Let me know how yours turns out! I'm worried about whether my payments will be delayed during this review process because I have rent due next week and absolutely cannot be late again. My landlord is already threatening eviction from the last time DEO messed up my payments.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one dealing with this! I submitted my new application yesterday and it's now showing as "pending" with a message about adjudication review. I'll definitely update here if I get any movement on my claim. I hope both of us get through this quickly - I'm worried about bills too.

Just wanted to update everyone on this thread with some important information. The quarterly review application is indeed normal, but there are some specific things you need to know: 1. After submission, your claim will show a status of "Pending Adjudication" - this is normal 2. The review typically takes 5-10 business days to complete 3. You should continue claiming weeks during this period even if the system allows it 4. If your claim status doesn't change after 2 weeks, that's when you should try contacting DEO Also, make sure you're answering the work search questions correctly during this period. You still need to report 5 work search activities per week unless you have a work search exemption. The system sometimes resets exemption statuses during these quarterly reviews.

Thank you for this additional info! My claim is showing "Pending Adjudication" now just like you said. I'm keeping track of all my work searches carefully and will continue to claim weeks. Hopefully the review happens on the faster end of that timeframe.

Good news! I just helped a client through this exact situation last week. After completing the quarterly review application, his benefits resumed after 8 days with no interruption in payment. For those experiencing delays beyond two weeks, it's usually because something in your new application triggered an additional review flag. The most common flags are: 1. Reporting new employment during the quarter 2. Changing your address or contact information 3. Answering questions differently than on your original application 4. Missing information or inconsistencies in your work search records If you hit the two-week mark and still see "Pending Adjudication" with no payment, that's when you should definitely contact DEO directly. Be prepared with your claimant ID and the date you submitted your quarterly review application.

UPDATE: My claim was approved! Exactly 6 days after submitting the new application, my status changed from "Pending Adjudication" to "Eligible" and my payment for the weeks I claimed was processed yesterday. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance. This forum saved me from completely panicking. For anyone else who encounters this quarterly review message, just follow the prompts to submit a new application and be patient. The system is just doing its regular check to see if your eligibility status has changed.

That's great news!! Mine is still pending but it's only been 4 days so I'll try to be patient. Thanks for updating us!
