WA Working Families Tax Credit payment delays - anyone received theirs yet?
I applied for the Working Families Tax Credit back in February (was super careful with my application!) and still haven't received anything. My neighbor said she got hers weeks ago. I've been checking my informed delivery from USPS every day like a crazy person hoping to see it there... nothing! The website says it could take up to 120 days for processing, but I'm getting nervous. Has anyone actually received their WFTC payment recently? Or seen it pop up in informed delivery before it arrived? I'm starting to wonder if I should contact someone or if this is normal processing time. Really counting on that $$$!

I received mine last week after waiting about 3.5 months. The check comes from the Department of Revenue, not ESD, so keep that in mind when checking your informed delivery. Mine showed up as a letter from WA State DOR. If you applied in February, you should be getting close to that 120-day mark, so I'd give it another week or two before contacting them. They're processing thousands of these applications with limited staff.

•Oh wow thank you! I didn't realize it comes from DOR not ESD. That helps a lot - I've been looking for the wrong sender this whole time in my informed delivery 🤦♀️ Did your check amount match what you expected based on your application?

•Same boat. Applied early January and radio silence. The website isn't helpful at all.

The Working Families Tax Credit is administered by the Department of Revenue, not Employment Security Department. They're estimating 120 days for processing right now due to high volume. You can check your application status at https://workingfamiliescredit.wa.gov/check-your-status - you'll need your application number and other verification info. If it's been more than 120 days, call their dedicated line at 360-763-7300, but be prepared for long wait times. Unlike unemployment benefits, these are sent as paper checks, not direct deposits, so keep checking your mail.

•Thank you for this info! I'm at about 100 days now so I'll try to be patient for a bit longer. I checked the status portal but it just says "processing" with no other details. At least I know it's in their system.

I've had luck getting through to Washington state agencies by using Claimyr service (claimyr.com). They have a system that waits on hold for you and then calls you when an agent is on the line. I used it for ESD earlier this year when I couldn't get through, but I think it works for other agencies too. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 if you want to see how it works. Saved me from spending hours on hold!

•It worked for me! I was skeptical at first but it got me through to an ESD agent when I couldn't get through for days. Might be worth trying if you're at your wit's end with the waiting.

I got denied after waiting 4 months because they said I didn't provide enough documentation. But I sent EVERYTHING they asked for! Now I have to appeal and probably wait another 4 months. The whole system feels designed to make you give up. Had the same experience with unemployment last year. I swear they just deny a percentage of people hoping they won't fight it.

•That's frustrating, but appeals often work out! For the Working Families Tax Credit appeals, make sure you're very specific about what documentation you provided and when. Take screenshots of everything. Unlike unemployment appeals which go through OAH, the WFTC appeals go directly through Department of Revenue. Different process but still worth pursuing if you qualify.

I work with a community organization that helps people apply for benefits, and we've seen WFTC payments taking anywhere from 8-16 weeks right now. A few important things to note: 1. The check will come from Department of Revenue, not ESD 2. If you moved since applying, make sure your address is updated in their system 3. The status checking tool is often not updated in real-time 4. Paper checks are mailed in batches, so sometimes there are sudden waves of people receiving them 5. If you filed your taxes late or amended them, it can cause additional delays If you're approaching the 120-day mark, it's reasonable to call, but they are legitimately backlogged with applications.

•This is super helpful information, thank you! I did file my taxes on time and haven't moved, so hopefully that means mine is just working through the normal process. The batch mailing explanation makes sense for why some people get theirs earlier than others even if they applied around the same time.

Just wanted to add my experience - I applied in late January and received my check last Friday! It took about 10 weeks total. Like others mentioned, it came from WA State Department of Revenue in a very plain white envelope that I almost threw away thinking it was junk mail. The amount was exactly what I calculated when I applied. For those still waiting, hang in there! It seems like they're processing them in waves rather than strict chronological order. I'd definitely recommend using that status checker tool someone mentioned earlier to make sure your application is still being processed.

•That's really encouraging to hear! I'm at about the same timeline as you were when yours arrived, so hopefully mine will show up soon. Good reminder about the plain envelope - I'll definitely be extra careful checking my mail. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm in a similar situation - applied in early February and still waiting! Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really reassuring. I had no idea it came from Department of Revenue instead of ESD, so I've been looking for the wrong thing in my mail too. The 8-16 week timeline that Caleb mentioned gives me hope since I'm right around that mark now. I've been checking the status portal obsessively but it just says "processing" with no updates. At least now I know that's normal and doesn't mean something went wrong with my application. Fingers crossed we all get our checks soon!

•I'm in the exact same boat! Applied mid-February and have been obsessively checking my mail every day. This thread has been so helpful - I had no idea about the Department of Revenue vs ESD thing either. It's reassuring to know that the status portal just saying "processing" is normal and doesn't mean there's an issue. Sounds like we're both right in that sweet spot where payments should start coming through soon based on everyone else's timelines!

I'm also still waiting on mine - applied in early February and getting anxious! This thread has been incredibly helpful though. I had no idea the checks come from Department of Revenue instead of ESD, so I've been watching for the wrong thing in my informed delivery. The timeline everyone's sharing (8-16 weeks) actually makes me feel better since I'm right around week 12 now. It's good to know that "processing" status is normal and doesn't mean something's wrong. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - it helps to know we're all in this together! Hopefully we'll start seeing more of these checks roll out soon.
