How to upload documents for unemployment verification - Washington ESD system confusing
I've been trying to figure out how to upload documents for my unemployment claim verification and the Washington ESD website is so confusing. I got a message saying I need to provide income verification but I can't find where to actually upload anything. I've been clicking around the secure portal for an hour and nothing seems obvious. Has anyone successfully uploaded documents recently? What am I missing here?

You need to log into your SecureAccess Washington account first, then go to the 'Upload Documents' section under your claim details. Make sure your files are PDF format and under 10MB each.

•I'm logged in but I don't see any 'Upload Documents' section anywhere. Is it maybe called something different?

•Sometimes it shows up as 'Correspondence' or 'Submit Information' depending on what type of verification they need.

•So frustrating! I've had the same issues with timeouts.

•Great, so it's not just me having technical problems with their system.

I had this exact issue last month. If you can't find the upload option, try using Claimyr to get through to an actual Washington ESD agent who can walk you through it. I found them at claimyr.com and they helped me reach someone who explained exactly where to upload my documents. There's even a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how their service works.

•Never heard of Claimyr before but if it actually gets you through to real people at Washington ESD that sounds worth trying.

•I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. The regular phone lines are impossible.

•Wait, is this some kind of paid service? How much does it cost?

For document uploads, you typically need to access your 'Inbox' or 'Messages' section first. Washington ESD usually sends a specific message with upload instructions when they need documents. Look for anything with 'Action Required' in the subject line.

•I found the message but when I click the link it just takes me to the main dashboard page. This is so broken.

•Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then log back in. Sometimes the website gets stuck with old session data.

been dealing with this same crap for weeks. their system is garbage and nobody answers the phones

•Right? It's like they don't want us to be able to submit anything.

•At least I know I'm not the only one struggling with this

Another thing to check - make sure your documents are named properly. Washington ESD's system is picky about file names. Don't use special characters or spaces. Use something simple like 'paystub_january2025.pdf

•Good tip! I was using names like 'Pay Stub - Jan 2025.pdf' so maybe that's causing issues.

•Yeah their system is really old and can't handle modern file naming conventions apparently

Try using Internet Explorer or Edge instead of Chrome/Firefox. I know it sounds crazy but Washington ESD's upload system works better with Microsoft browsers for some reason.

•Really? That's so weird but I'll try anything at this point.

•Can confirm this worked for me too. Their website is built for older browsers apparently.

•thats ridiculous that we have to use specific browsers just to upload a document

If you're still having trouble, you might want to try the mobile version of the Washington ESD website. Sometimes the mobile interface has different upload options that work better.

•I didn't even think about trying mobile. Will give that a shot.

•Mobile version is actually more user-friendly for uploads in my experience

Whatever you do, keep copies of everything and take screenshots showing you attempted to upload. If there are technical issues on their end, you'll need proof that you tried to submit on time.

•Smart advice. I've been screenshotting all the error messages I'm getting.

•Documentation is key when dealing with Washington ESD. They love to blame claimants for their system failures.

I used Claimyr a few weeks ago when I couldn't figure out their document upload system either. The agent I spoke with actually screen-shared with me and showed me exactly where to go. Turns out there was a separate 'Document Upload Portal' link that only appears after you click on certain messages. It's not intuitive at all.

•That sounds incredibly helpful! I'm going to check out Claimyr right now.

•Screen sharing with an agent would solve so many of these website navigation issues

•Do they even accept faxes anymore? What's the fax number?

•check their website for fax numbers but yeah they still take faxes for most documents

The document upload deadline is usually pretty strict, so if you're running out of time and can't get the online system to work, consider mailing them certified mail as a backup. At least then you have proof of delivery date.

•Good point about the deadline. I have about 5 days left so I need to figure this out soon.

Update: I tried the Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked! Got connected to a Washington ESD agent within 20 minutes and they walked me through the whole document upload process. Apparently there's a specific sequence you have to follow that's not obvious from the website interface.

•Amazing! I'm signing up for Claimyr right now. This gives me hope.

•What was the specific sequence they showed you?

•You have to go to Messages first, click on the specific document request, then scroll down past all the text to find a small 'Upload Documents' button that's easy to miss.

SUCCESS! Finally got my documents uploaded after trying the Internet Explorer suggestion and following the sequence someone mentioned. The upload button was literally hidden at the bottom of a long message. Washington ESD's website design is absolutely terrible but at least it's done now.

•Congratulations! I'm still working on it but this thread has given me so many ideas to try.

I had the exact same frustrating experience last month! What finally worked for me was using Edge browser and going to the Messages section first. Look for the message about document verification, click on it, then scroll ALL the way down past the wall of text - there's a tiny "Upload Documents" button at the very bottom that's super easy to miss. Also make sure your files are named simply without spaces or special characters. The whole process is ridiculously unintuitive but once you find that hidden button it should work. Don't give up!
