How to see ESD payment history and YTD tax withholding before 1099G arrives?
I've been on unemployment since September and need to figure out my finances. Is there any way to see a breakdown of everything I've received from ESD so far and how much they've taken out for taxes? Kind of like how a paystub shows year-to-date totals? I opted for tax withholding when I filed but have no idea how much they're actually taking out. I know the 1099G will show everything eventually but I need this info now for budgeting purposes. The eServices dashboard just shows individual payments but I don't see any totals anywhere. Am I missing something obvious?

Yes! Log into your eServices account, click on the "UI Claim" tab, then look for "Payment History" on the left sidebar. From there, you should see a list of all payments. If you click on each payment individually, it will show the gross amount and tax withholding for that specific payment. Unfortunately, there's no built-in YTD summary, so you'd need to manually add them up yourself or download the data and use a spreadsheet.

•Thanks, I found the payment history but you're right - no totals! Ugh, guess I'll have to make my own spreadsheet. Seems like such a basic feature they should include.

the esd website is terrible lol. ive been keeping my own records in an excel spreadsheet since i started claims. just write down each payment amount and the tax they take out each week. way easier than trying 2 find it on their garbage website later

•That would have been smart! Wish I'd done that from the beginning. Definitely starting now though.

There's actually a report you can generate! Go to your eServices account → UI Claim → Then click on "UI Summary" (not Payment History). It's a little hidden but it will show you aggregate data about your claim including total benefits paid. For taxes specifically though, you still have to do some math - they withhold at 10% federal if you opted in, so you'd calculate 10% of your total benefits received.

•Oh wow, I totally missed that UI Summary option! Just checked and you're right, it shows the total benefits paid. Super helpful, thank you! And good to know about the 10% withholding rate too.

I was wondering the same thing last month! The UI Summary helped but it doesn't give the complete picture. I ended up having to call ESD directly to get clarification on some of the tax withholding details and was on hold FOREVER. Such a pain.

•If you're still having trouble getting through to ESD, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation last week, trying to understand my benefit calculations and tax withholdings. Was getting nowhere with the regular phone line but Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to tell me exactly how much had been withheld year-to-date.

This is EXACTLY why the ESD system is so frustrating!! They make it impossible to get basic information that any normal payroll system would provide automatically. I spent THREE HOURS last year trying to reconcile my payment records because I needed the info for a mortgage application. The system is designed to be confusing on purpose I swear.

Just something to be aware of - make sure you're setting aside additional money for taxes if needed. The 10% withholding might not cover your full tax liability depending on your tax bracket and other income. I got caught by surprise last year when I still owed additional taxes even though I had withholding on all my UI payments.

•That's a good point I hadn't considered. I assumed the withholding would cover everything. I'll definitely set some extra money aside just in case. Thanks for the warning!
