How to get Washington ESD unemployment account number for my small business

I'm opening a small retail shop and need to register with Washington ESD to get an unemployment insurance account number. I've been looking on their website but can't figure out where to start the process. Do I need to wait until I hire my first employee or can I register now? Also not sure what documents I'll need to provide. Has anyone gone through this process recently?

You can register before hiring employees but you're not required to until you have your first worker. Go to esd.wa.gov and look for 'Employer Services' section. You'll need your federal EIN number and business license info.
