How long after Sunday phone claim does status change from processing to paid?
I've been filing my weekly unemployment claims over the phone on Sundays (since my internet is unreliable). For those who also claim by phone on Sundays, how long does it typically take to see your status change from 'processing' to 'paid'? I know the website says 2-3 business days, but curious about real experiences. My last two weeks seemed to update at different times and I'm trying to figure out when I can expect money to hit my account. Not in adjudication or anything - clean claim with no issues.

When I file by phone on Sundays (I do this about half the time), my status usually changes from processing to paid by Tuesday afternoon. The money hits my direct deposit Wednesday morning 99% of the time. Phone claims seem to take about 12 hours longer to process than web claims in my experience with ESD. If you file later in the day Sunday, it might not start processing until Monday morning.

•That's helpful, thanks! My last one switched to paid on Tuesday around 4pm so that tracks with your experience. Do you think calling earlier in the day on Sunday makes any difference?

•I've noticed my credit union gets it faster than when I was using Wells Fargo for some reason. ESD might batch process all the payments the same time but different banks post them at different speeds.

In my experience, the time of day you file on Sunday doesn't matter at all. The ESD system just queues them all up and starts processing everything Monday morning in batches. I've filed at 8am and 11pm on Sundays and saw no difference in when my claim status updated or when I got paid. What DOES matter is if you have any earnings to report or answer any questions differently than usual. Those can trigger manual review which slows everything down by at least a day.

•Good to know! I haven't had any earnings to report yet, but I'll start a part-time job next month, so I'll keep that in mind about it potentially delaying things.

My claims ALWAYS take forever when I file by phone!!!!! The automated system is SO SLOW and then it takes DAYS longer than when I file online!!! Last week I filed Sunday at 2pm by phone and my status didn't change until WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON and I didn't get paid until THURSDAY NIGHT!!!! ESD hates us and punishes phone claimants I swear!!!! 😡😡😡

•That sounds unusual. Have you checked your account for possible issues? There might be something in adjudication or a flag on your claim that's causing delays. I'd recommend reviewing your account online if possible to see if there are any alerts or messages about your claim status.

I've been calling in my claims every Sunday for about 7 months now (I find the phone system easier to use than the website for some reason). Here's my consistent timeline: - File on Sunday (anytime) - Status shows "processing" until Tuesday mid-day (typically between 11am-2pm) - Payment shows as "paid" by Tuesday evening - Money in my KeyBank ReliaCard by Wednesday morning If your payment status isn't updating by Wednesday, something's probably up with your claim. Could be a random ID verification, work search review, or some other flag on your account. If you're having trouble reaching ESD to check on delays, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They help you get through to an actual ESD agent without the constant busy signals and disconnects. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. I found this after spending 3 days trying to get through about a payment delay issue. Got connected in about 20 minutes.

•Thanks for the detailed breakdown! That helps a lot. So far I'm following that same timeline, so I think everything is processing normally. I'll keep that Claimyr recommendation in mind if I do hit any issues and need to talk to someone at ESD.

•No, you haven't been doing anything wrong. You can file either way - online or by phone. Online is actually preferred by ESD and usually processes a bit faster, but phone claims are still fully supported for people with limited internet access or who prefer that method.

One thing to remember is that banking holidays can affect the timeline too. For example, if Monday is a banking holiday, everything gets pushed back a day. I learned this the hard way during President's Day when I was expecting payment on Wednesday but didn't get it until Thursday.

•That's a good point! I'll make sure to check for holidays when planning around when my payments will arrive. Thankfully there aren't any holidays coming up in the next few weeks.

•The website maintenance is usually scheduled for late night/early morning hours, but I agree the phone system is more reliable when the site is having issues. Just takes longer to go through all the questions by phone.
