ESD payment issues - wrong bank account listed for 8 weeks of benefits

Has anyone else had their ESD payments stopped because of banking info issues? I've been filing my weekly claims for TWO MONTHS (8 weeks) and haven't received a single payment. Finally got through to someone yesterday who told me my banking information was incorrect in their system! They're sending me a debit card now, but I'm livid about waiting this long for benefits I desperately need. The rep couldn't explain why nobody contacted me about this issue. Why isn't there an alert or something in the system that tells you your payments aren't processing correctly? Now I'm waiting another 7-10 business days for this card. Anyone know if I can expedite this process somehow?

Almost the EXACT same thing happened to me last month!! My bank account number was off by ONE digit and it took them 6 weeks to tell me. I was about to be evicted when I finally got through to someone. Did they tell you whether they're sending you all the back payments on that card?

Yes, they said all 8 weeks will be loaded onto the card when it arrives. Just frustrating to wait even longer when my rent is already late. Did you get all your back payments?

I WAS using direct deposit! That's the frustrating part - somehow they had the wrong account info even though I triple-checked it when I applied.

When you have banking issues with ESD, there are a few things to know: 1. They should send all back payments on the debit card once it arrives 2. You can request expedited shipping on the card, though it costs around $15 (deducted from your balance) 3. Once you have the card, you can transfer funds to your regular bank account through the card's website 4. For future reference, you can update banking info in your eServices account under "Payment Options" Important: Keep filing your weekly claims even during this waiting period! Your claim will remain active as long as you continue filing weekly.

Thank you! I didn't know about the expedited shipping option. I'll definitely call back and ask about that. And yes, I'm still filing my weekly claims despite this mess.

I waited 9 weeks once because they said my identity verification failed but nobody told me!! Just kept saying my payments were pending. The whole system is designed to make people give up, I swear.

This is unfortunately common. The ESD system doesn't always communicate issues clearly. For identity verification issues or payment problems, it's best to contact them directly rather than waiting for notifications that might never come.

Pro tip for getting through to ESD when you have payment issues: Call the overpayment department directly (the number should be on any ESD correspondence). Even though your issue isn't an overpayment, they can usually transfer you to someone who can help with payment problems, and their wait times are typically shorter than the main line. Alternatively, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) last year when I had a similar issue. They got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes when I had been trying for days with no luck. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved me weeks of stress when I needed my benefits fixed.

Hey there! So what number did you call exactly? I'm having a similar problem but with missing payments from January. I've tried the main ESD number like 20 times with no luck. Been on hold for 2+ hours multiple times only to get disconnected! I'm going to try your overpayment department suggestion tomorrow.

I called the main number (800-318-6022) and when it asked for what I was calling about, I said "overpayment" even though that wasn't my issue. Got transferred to a person after about an hour and ten minutes. Still a long wait, but at least I got through. Good luck!

After you receive your card, I highly recommend setting up the direct deposit option again through the ReliaCard website (if that's the card they're sending you). Double check ALL the numbers this time. I've found it much easier to have the money go straight to my regular bank than dealing with another card to keep track of.

Thanks, that's my plan! I absolutely do not want to use this card long-term. I'll set up the transfer to my regular bank account as soon as I get it.

You mentioned you called and actually spoke to someone - I'm jealous! I've been trying for weeks. How many times did you have to call before you got through? Any particular time of day that worked better?

I called right when they opened at 8:00 AM and used the overpayment option as someone suggested. Still waited over an hour, but at least I got through! I tried multiple times the previous week in the afternoon with no luck at all.
