8 weeks waiting on ESD payment - keep getting different timeframes
Im hitting my breaking point with ESD. I've submitted 8 weekly claims now and still haven't received a SINGLE payment. When I first called (after waiting 3 hours), the agent told me to expect 5-7 days for processing. Called back a week later and suddenly it's "8-9 weeks is normal processing time." My account just shows "pending" with no explanation. My rent is already late and I'm burning through savings. Has anyone actually gotten their benefits after waiting this long? Is there anything I can do to speed this up or at least get a straight answer about when I'll actually see money? I'm beginning to think this system is designed to make people give up.

Your claim is probably stuck in adjudication. Mine took 11 weeks to process in 2025, and I had to call almost daily. The 5-7 days timeframe they mentioned only applies to claims with zero issues. If there's anything flagged for review (and there usually is), then yes, 8-9 weeks is unfortunately more realistic. Check your notices tab in eServices to see if they've requested any additional information from you that might be holding things up.

•That's exactly what mine says - "adjudication in progress." But they never told me what information they need! There's nothing in my notices tab asking for documents. How am I supposed to fix something if they won't tell me what's wrong?

same thing happnd to me last month... waited 9 weeks and then BOOM got all payments at once. hang in there but also CALL THEM EVERY DAY. squeaky wheel gets the grease with esd!!

•I've tried calling but can never get through. I just get the "high call volume" message and then it hangs up on me. I've tried at different times of day too - right when they open, middle of day, right before close. Same result every time.

The ESD system is absolutely swamped right now. My neighbor works there and says they're processing three times the normal volume of claims due to those tech layoffs and retail closures from January. Your best bet is to use the messaging system in eServices to ask specifically what's causing the delay. Be very direct and ask: "My claim has been pending for 8 weeks. Is it in adjudication, and if so, what specific issue is being reviewed?" They usually respond to messages within 3-5 business days. Also, make sure you're still filing your weekly claims even though you're not getting paid yet. If you miss any weeks, it could further delay everything or even cause you to lose benefits for those weeks.

I'm just getting scared because my emergency fund is almost gone, and I have no idea when this money will actually arrive. Do they at least backpay for all the weeks I've claimed once it's approved?

I tried calling ESD for WEEKS with no luck when my claim was stuck in adjudication. Then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in about 15 minutes. It basically automates the calling process so you don't have to keep redialing. Cost me a bit but was totally worth it to finally get answers. Once I sent in my pay stubs, things started moving.

This ESD nightmare is BY DESIGN!! They WANT you to give up so they don't have to pay. I waited 13 WEEKS before getting a penny and only got paid because I threatened legal action. Update: I finally got through to someone at ESD today! Turns out my claim was flagged because my previous employer contested my eligibility (they're claiming I quit when I was actually laid off). Now I have to wait for an adjudicator to review the case and make a determination. The agent couldn't tell me how long that would take but at least I know what's happening now. Feeling a little less in the dark.

my cousin had this exact same thing happen and he ended up having to wait 3 months total! but he did eventually get ALL the back pay. so at least you'll eventually get a big chunk of money all at once... small consolation i know when bills are due now
