Does 'processing via web' status change to 'processing-paid' on ESD weekly claims?

Hey everyone, I'm confused about the status updates on my weekly claim. After submitting my weekly certification yesterday, my ESD account shows 'processing via web' status. I can't remember if this changes to 'processing-paid' before the money actually hits my account or if it stays as 'processing via web' until the deposit happens. This is my 5th week of benefits but somehow I forget the exact sequence of status changes each time! Anyone know the normal progression of statuses before payment? I'm trying to budget for upcoming bills and need to know when to expect the money. Thanks!

Yes, it does change from 'processing via web' to 'processing-paid' once ESD approves your weekly claim. Typically it goes: 'processing via web' → 'processing-paid' → 'paid'. The transition usually happens within 24-48 hours if there are no issues with your claim. Once it says 'processing-paid', you can expect the deposit within 1-2 business days depending on your bank.

Thank you! That really helps. Do you know if it always shows these status changes or sometimes skips directly to 'paid'? I swear last time I checked it was 'processing via web' and then suddenly just 'paid' without seeing the middle status.

mine usually says processing via web for like a day then goes straight to paid. i dont think i ever saw a processing-paid status but maybe i just dont check often enough lol

That's interesting! Maybe it does update quickly and I've just missed that middle step before. Appreciate your input.

The status progression is definitely: 'processing via web' → 'processing-paid' → 'paid' but sometimes it moves through these stages really quickly depending on when you file and ESD's current workload. I've noticed that if I file on Sunday mornings, it often changes to 'processing-paid' by Monday and then 'paid' by Tuesday. But if I wait until later in the week to file, it can take longer. ESD seems to process claims in batches, so timing matters.

THIS!! timing is everything with esd. i always file sunday at midnight and get paid wednesday like clockwork. my neighbor files monday afternoon and doesnt get paid till friday. same claim type, different results just because of when we file!!!

Hi there! Just to add some clarity here - the status will change from 'processing via web' to 'processing-paid' once your weekly claim has been validated and approved for payment. However, the ESD system sometimes updates these statuses in batches overnight, so you might miss seeing the 'processing-paid' status if you're not checking at the right time. If your claim has no issues (like adjudication or identity verification pending), you should expect to see the full progression within 72 hours after filing your weekly claim. The final 'paid' status appears once the payment has been initiated to your bank or debit card.

That makes so much sense about the batch processing! No wonder I sometimes miss seeing certain status updates. My claim is currently in good standing so hopefully I'll see the payment soon. Thanks for the detailed explanation!

Is anyone else having trouble even SEEING their status updates? I filed my weekly claim 3 days ago and my ESD account still shows nothing about processing or payment status. Just called their number for the 15th time and can't get through to a real person. So frustrating!!!

I had the same issue last month. Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent? I was stuck in the phone queue hell for weeks until someone here recommended it. Got connected to an actual ESD person in about 30 minutes who fixed my status issue. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It was worth it just to finally get some answers about my claim.

Thank you SO MUCH for this recommendation! I've been trying to reach someone for days with no luck. Will definitely check out that link right now. At this point I just need to talk to an actual human who can tell me what's going on with my claim.

One important thing to note: If you have any unresolved issues on your claim, it might get stuck at 'processing via web' and never progress to 'processing-paid' until those issues are resolved. Common issues include incomplete job search activities, earnings verification, or identity verification requirements. Always make sure your weekly claim is complete with all required information to avoid delays.

That's good to know. I did complete all my job search activities and reported them correctly, so hopefully there won't be any issues. I'll keep an eye on the status today and tomorrow to see if it changes.

my claim NEVER shows processing-paid like EVER!!! goes from processing to paid directly. been on ui since january 2025 and its always the same. maybe it depends what type of claim u have??? im on regular unemployment not the standby or partial unemployment thing

You're right - different claim types can have slightly different processing workflows. Another factor is the time of day you check. The ESD system often updates statuses overnight, so if you check in the morning and then again the next day, you might miss the intermediate status changes.

UPDATE: Just checked my account again and it now shows 'processing-paid'! So I guess it does go through that middle stage after all. Thanks everyone for your help and explanations. Hoping it changes to 'paid' soon and the deposit hits my account by tomorrow.

Thanks! It's such a relief to see it moving through the process. I was starting to worry something was wrong with my claim.
