Can you be fired and collect unemployment in Washington state?
I got terminated from my job last Friday and I'm wondering if I can still file for unemployment benefits through Washington ESD. My supervisor said it was due to 'performance issues' but I feel like I was doing my best given the circumstances. I've been working there for almost 2 years. Does getting fired automatically disqualify you from unemployment in Washington? I'm really stressed about this because I have rent due next week and need to know if I should even bother applying.

You can definitely still apply for unemployment benefits even if you were fired. Washington ESD will review your case to determine if the termination was for 'misconduct.' Performance issues usually don't count as misconduct unless it was willful or you were repeatedly warned and ignored the warnings.
